~Ashley~
His eyebrows rose up in surprise. Then it was replaced by pain and agony. He screamed in pain and fell forwards, first on his knees and then sideways to the ground. Blood was trickling steadily from his wound. Everyone seemed too shocked to move. Including me. I looked at Sid, who was smiling knowingly. I could hear a faint female voice singing in the distance. Everyone seemed to be in a trance and followed that voice. I felt drunk. Extremely, heavily drunk. I followed that voice as if in a trance.
I felt someone pull me roughly away from the voice. I tried to pull my hand away, annoyed at the person who was pulling me away. That person turned me around so that now I was facing him. It was Sid. Then I felt a sharp pain across my cheek. It burnt and I seemed to snap out of my daze.
"Why did you slap me?" I asked annoyed.
He sighed in relief. He took my hand and started dragging me towards Onyxia, who had by now killed quite a few of our companions. "We need to get out of here. She will follow us shortly." I didn't know who 'she' was but I didn't ask anything. I quickly mounted Onyxia followed by Sid. She threw a steady stream of fire at the ceiling to burn a hole. The passage wasn't enough to accommodate her size. The hole was big enough for her to fly through. She flew right through and once in the open she extended her wings and flew higher. I could sense her happiness she felt right now being in the open. I grinned but then I sensed unhappiness. I could feel Sid's erratic heartbeat and knew that he wasn't happy.
"Hey, what's the matter?" I asked him, without turning back.
"I'm just worried.." he muttered under his breath.
"Worried about what?"
"You remember the arrow and the voice coming from an unknown source? It was Sam. I had paged her while we were flying earlier in the cave on Onyxia's back. She still hasn't come out yet."
"Wait, how will she catch up with us? Does she have a ride?" I asked, concerned. She was one of my close friends and I didn't want anything to happen to her. We had grown close in the last five years and she was great.
"You'll see." Sid said, smiling mysteriously. Man this guy had a lot of sides. We were flying for another ten minutes when I heard a whooshing noise. I turned to see Sam flying alongside Onyxia, the wind whipping past her. Her wings were light blue, the colour of the sky now. She was wearing a white t-shirt and denim shorts with dark blue converse.
She turned to me and grinned. She gave me a two finger salute and flew ahead of Onyxia. I send Onyxia an image of flying faster than Sam. She corporated and flew at top speed. But even with her speed she was only equal to Sam. "Hey. You an angel?!" I shouted over the wind.
"Yes. You a dragon rider?!"
"Yes!" We both grinned. I loved talking to her. Though I didn't know this Angel thing and she didn't know my dragon rider thing.
"How long have you been an Angel?!" I shouted to her.
"About five years. What about you?!"
"About a year. It was dormant!"
"Wow. Your dragon looks big."
"I know, right!?"
"Um, ladies if you don't mind? Sam, which location is the nearest?!" Sid intervened, shushing us both.
"Our house. I'll show the way." She said and flew ahead with Onyxia on her tail. Onyxia was showing me the beautiful scenery below us. The trees were thick and dense such that only their canopies were visible from here. Then the trees gave way to a clearing where a big bungalow sat in the middle surrounded by a protection barrier. A normal person wouldn't have been able to see but I'm not normal. Sam landed on the roof of the house followed by Onyxia. I dismounted with Sid on my heels. I patted Onyxia's back. She snorted and took off into the air, her image becoming smaller and smaller as she flew away.
I heard footsteps advancing behind me. I turned to see Ash stalking towards Sam who was standing right beside me. He looked furious and worried at the same time. "I'm so sorry Ash, I..." Sam started apologetically but before she could finish his lips caught hers in a furious kiss. We both just stood there awkwardly. I scratched the back of my neck and looked away, trying hard not to giggle.
"You think we should go inside?" Sid whispered in my ear.
"Yes please." I said nodding and we walked away, leaving the couple here alone to do their business.
