"You mind telling me what the hell we're doing here Finn?" You asked your best friend as he pulled you behind him. He smiled back at you and plopped down on the bleacher seat and you sat down beside him.
"It's the big game y/n! Why wouldn't we be here?" He said through a mouth full of popcorn. You rolled your eyes and grabbed some of his popcorn.
"I never go to these. I don't understand why you dragged me to this one."
"You need to get out of the house more. Besides, there's a party after the game and I want you to come with me and Rey."
"What, so I can be your DD?"
Finn gave you an annoyed look.
"No y/n. You're our friend. We want you there because you're our friend. Plus, you've been kinda depressing lately." He popped another piece of popcorn in his mouth.
"Finn..."
"I won't start y/n. But if you keep being down in the dumps you'll be hearing from Rey. And you don't want that."
You stayed silent. It was true. Ever since you and Poe broke up you had been slightly depressing. You never really left the apartment that you shared with Finn and Rey and you never went to games anymore. Or parties for that matter.
"I don't see how bringing me to the game is supposed to help me from being depressing." You said to your friend. Finn just smirked at you.
"Relax, football is fun, and Rey will be here 2nd half."
"I always found football boring."
Finn glared at you and you held back smile.
"Just watch the game l/n." He growled. And so you did. But your eyes never left Poe the whole time."Another big win!" Rey shook your shoulder enthusiastically. You rolled your eyes at your friend.
"Big surprise." You mumbled. The three of you walked into the frat house. There were bodies everywhere and the place reeked of alcohol.
"I'm gonna get us some drinks!" Finn yelled over the music. You and Rey nodded at him in thanks and the two of you went to go find a place to sit.
You found a spot outside. The college kids around you were talking aimlessly, or playing beer pong, or just enjoying a beer and the fresh air. Not that it was very fresh considering how much smoke was in it.
"M'ladies," Finn announced as he handed the two of you your drinks. You took a sip of yours, cringing at the taste. God, why where you here?
"There they are!" Someone in the crowd shouted. Everyone's attention turned to the back door as the football team flowed out of it. The cheering began and you rolled your eyes. Finn clapped enthusiastically with a smile on his face. He looked at you expectantly and gestured for you to cheer, but in response you took another sip of your drink.
Your friend chose to ignore you.
"Who's up for some pong?" Finn asked you and Rey as he stood up.
"I'm game, let's go y/n." Rey said linking your arm with hers. You groaned but followed your friends nonetheless.
"Wait we need another person though." You protested.
"I'll play."
Fuck. You knew that voice.
You turned to see the man who said he'd play with you. There he stood. One of the best running backs in college history, and your ex boyfriend. Poe Dameron.
"Great! Me and Finn. Poe and y/n." Rey said excitedly. You glared at your friends and reluctantly made your way to stand beside Poe.
"Hey," he greeted. You nodded at him in response. The game began, you and Poe shooting first.
"How've you been?" He asked as he sunk the ball into one of the cups.
"Dandy, you?" You said as you shot and missed.
"Great, I've been great." He replied. Finn and Rey shot.
"Did you go to the game?" Poe asked you. Your eyes met his. You could see something in them but you didn't know what.
"What are we doing?" You questioned. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"What do you mean?"
You sighed and handed him your ball.
"I need another drink." You mumbled walking off. Poe glanced at Finn and Rey and quickly ran after you. You didn't realize that he did until he said something to you in the kitchen.
"Why won't you talk to me?" You spun around in fright and then glared at him.
"I have nothing to say to you Poe." You brushed passed him.
"So what? You walk out on me and won't even let me know why?" He called after you. You paused.
"I hate playing these stupid games with you. I love you y/n. Just give me some explanation. Please."
You took a deep breath and turned to face him.
"Don't I deserve to know?"
You squeezed your eyes shut. "Yes." You breathed out. "I just don't know how to explain it." You opened your eyes.
"Well think about what you're gonna say on the way back to my place. Because we are talking whether you want to or not.""I couldn't handle it."
"Handle what?" You plopped down on his bed and put your head in your hands.
"The pressure." You ran your hands though your hair and looked up at Poe.
"I don't understand." He sat on a chair in front of you.
"You're popular, cool, a great athlete. I'm the complete opposite. I can't handle trying to be this person that I'm not."
"I don't want you to be someone that you're not y/n." Poe said.
"I love that you think that Poe, but there's so many expectations. I can't be the preppy girlfriend that wears your jersey to every game. I can't stand your stupid loud friends. I don't like everyone using me just to get good with you."
"Y/n..." Poe moved to sit beside you on his bed.
"I love you Poe. But it's too much. I crack under pressure."
"You don't have to be that person. I don't expect you to do anything that makes you uncomfortable. I just want you to be happy."
You were silent.
"I miss you y/n." You looked up at him with wide eyes.
"I miss you too Poe."
"Can we please just try to do this again? Work things out? I don't want to live without you. I want you to be by my side, whether you're wearing my jersey or not." You smiled up at him.
"I want that too."
"Good," Poe leaned down and kissed you sweetly. "Just talk to me though if things get to much. I don't want you to walk out on me again."
You giggled.
"Understood Dameron."
"Should we head back to the party?"
"Nah, we've got some catching up to do."
