Pranking Gone Wrong

"Kennedy!" You called out as you walked into the hangar. "Kennedy?" You sighed and dropped your arms to your sides, trying not to freak out. You began asking random people around the area if they'd seen your 4 year old daughter, but no one had. You decided to go find Poe and see if she was with him.
He was underneath his x-wing when you walked up to him. You tapped him with your foot and he rolled out. You crossed your arms and bit your lip as you looked down at him.
"Have you seen Ken?" He sat up and wiped his hands on the grease rag that was laying on the ground beside him.
"No. I thought she was with you?" You shook your head.
"I've been looking for her for 30 minutes Poe. I was really hoping you had her, but now I'm starting to freak out." You wrung your hands nervously and scanned the hangar again, trying to see if she was running around anywhere.
"Ok, ok." Poe said standing up. "Calm down, she's gotta be on the base somewhere. We just have to look in the right spots."
"Calm? Poe our daughter is missing. I'm far from calm."
"I know. But freaking out isn't gonna help us out here at all."
You grumbled under your breath, knowing he was right. He wrapped his arm around your shoulder and together the two of you started to walk around the base in search of your daughter. You checked with friends. You checked in every room. You even double checked every room.
She was no where to be found.
The two of you had found yourselves back in the hallway that led to the hangar. You steadied yourself on the wall before sliding down it and looking up at Poe worriedly. He had his arms crossed looking down at you.
"Poe-"
"She's here y/n. How far can a four year old go on a highly secured base?"
"I don't know! But I have no clue where she is and I'm freaking out, ok?"
You ran your hand through you hair and took a deep breath. Poe squatted down in front of you and put his hands on your knees. You refused to meet his eyes.
"Y/N-"
"I leave for a mission in four hours and instead of getting ready I'm looking for my lost daughter." You said softly. Poe squeezed your knees and you noticed him tense.
"Fuck... I forgot you left today."
"What if we don't find her before I leave? I always see her before-"
"Y/N," Poe cut you off. He stood up and reached out his hand to help you up as well.
"I know where Ken is." You stood up confused.
"What? We looked everywhere, how could you-"
"Just... follow me." The two of you walked back into the hangar and over to Poe's x-wing. He looked at you and cringed before he called out Kennedy's name.
The little girls head popped out of the cockpit your jaw dropped and you snapped your head over to Poe. He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly as you glared at him.
"We wanted to play a little prank on you. I completely forgot you had a mission today." You just huffed and reached up your arms to help your daughter out of the x-wing.
"Kennedy don't ever do that again. I was worried sick." The little girl giggled as you hugged her tightly.
"I'm sorry baby." Poe apologized but you just shot him another glare and stalked out of the hangar. Poe sighed and slumped his shoulders. It was a stupid prank. He felt terrible, but he figured you should cool off before he went to apologize again. He waited about twenty minutes before going back to your quarters.
When he walked in, he saw you sitting on the bed, holding a sleeping Kennedy tightly. You glanced up at him before shifting over so that he could sit down beside you. Despite him making you worry like that, you couldn't stay mad at him. It was supposed to be a harmless prank, and Poe didn't mean to make you upset. He put his arm around you and entangled his legs with yours.
"I really am sorry." He said softly.
"I know." You rest your head on his shoulder. "This mission just has me stressed out, and losing Ken..." you drawled off.
"I won't do that again to you. We just wanted to have little fun."
"On any other circumstances I'm sure I would've laughed with you. I just got so worried. I always see Ken before my missions. She's like my good luck charm."
"I know. But your mission slipped my mind."
"Poe you assigned my mission." Poe chuckled and kissed your temple.
"That's the funny thing. I think I'm just getting old." You giggled and nestled in closer to him.
"I'm just glad she wasn't actually lost."
"I'm surprised you didn't catch on that I was pranking you. I think I would be more of a mess than you if she was missing." You laughed again.
"You're probably right."
Poe and you sat there contently for a while, and soon you found yourself beginning to drift off. You yawned and Poe looked down at you. He smiled.
"You get some sleep. I'll wake you up before you have to go." You smiled and kissed his cheek.
"Thank you baby." You said. "I love you."
Poe grinned down at his little family.
"I love you more."
