***A/N - school started up for me again so I won't be uploading as much. Also sorry this took so long. Hopefully I'll have part 2 up soon! Thanks for reading!
You had never wanted cry more than you did right now. The strange man wearing Poe's jacket just explained to you and BB-8 that Poe didn't survive the tie fighter crash. The one time he asked you to stay behind, he had gotten himself killed.
"You're positive he didn't make it?" You asked Finn, as he called himself, softly. Finn nodded his in sorrow and BB-8 drooped. You wanted to do the same. Rey and Finn started talking, and went to go sit down beside the droid to comfort him and to comfort yourself. Suddenly BB-8 started beeping rapidly.
"What?" You stood up quickly and scanned the area.
"Oh shit," you mumbled once you saw the stormtroopers talking to one of the locals. You ran to Finn and Rey.
"We gotta go." You said urgently. "Right now." Finn sported the troopers as well and he grabbed Rey's hand. Together, the three of you started to run as blasts shot in your direction. Finn and Rey bickered back and forth but you elected to ignore them and tried to focus on getting away.
This was not how you planned on your mission going.
"We cant outrun them!" Finn shouted.
"We might in that quad jumper!" Rey pointed to a ship in the distance. You didn't know how you didn't notice it earlier, but you weren't gonna question it.
"We need a pilot!" Finn shouted in a panic.
"We've got one!" You and Rey yelled in unison. The two of you glanced at each other, but didn't say anything else. You didn't know how the girl how to fly, but you needed a co-pilot so you didn't question it.
"What about that ship?" Finn pointed to a ship in the distance. You did a double take and skidded to a stop. Now that's a ship you hadn't seen in a while.
"That one's garbage!" Rey shouted. You rolled your eyes and began to run towards the falcon.
"Uncultured," you muttered under your breath. You didn't care that Finn and Rey weren't following you to the ship. Suddenly, you heard a large explosion and you turned to see that the ship that Finn and Rey were running to had been blown to bits. They were soon at your side, and the three of you were preparing to take off in the Falcon.
"Finn take the guns! Rey be my co pilot. This baby hasn't been in the air for years." You instructed.
"You know this ship?" Rey asked you as she sat down in the chair beside you.
"Honey I flew this ship."
Soon the three of you were off. You and Rey maneuvered through some debris, losing the tie fighters. You and Rey left the cockpit to meet Finn in the back.
"Nice shooting Finn!" You complimented the boy. "Good job Rey, you're a good co-pilot." You told the girl, nodding at her.
Suddenly steam started flooding into the back of the ship from the vents.
"Shit," you mumbled. Pulling up the vent grate, you climbed inside to see what was wrong. Rey jumped down beside you and peered over your shoulder.
"It's the motivator!" She called our in distress.
"Finn, grab me a Harris wrench!" You instructed.
"How bad is it?" The boy asked as he searched for the tool.
"If we wanna live, not good." Rey said.
"They're hunting for us now, we gotta get out of this system!" He handed Rey the wrench.
"He's right. We're too exposed." You mumbled. You climbed out of the vent and ran to the cockpit, picking up a radio to contact the base.
"Hello, hello! This is commander L/N on the Millennium Falcon. I'm in need of assistance. The first order is on our tail and I need back up now!" You were on the private frequency to the base, but no one was answering.
"Damn, they must be blocking the signal." You tried again.
"Is anyone there? This is Commander L/N, and I'm in need-" suddenly the lights went dark on the ship.
Rey and Finn came running into the cockpit.
"This isn't good." You mumbled, trying to get back in control of the ship.
"Someone's locked onto us!" Rey said in a panic. "All controls are overridden." Finn climbed up awkwardly to see who had locked onto the ship.
"It's the first order," Finn's face went pale and he plopped down in a seat.
"What can we do?" Rey asked. "There has to be something!"
"You said poisonous gas?" Finn asked. You sat up. That wasn't bad.
"Yeah, but I fixed that."
"So unfix it." You ordered. Rey nodded quickly and ran to the back of the ship. You and Finn followed her and crawled in the vent after her, putting masks on.
Rey worked quickly, but it seemed to be too late. You heard the doors swoosh open, and a pair of footsteps walked closer to the vent.
"Chewie, we're home." You paused.
You knew that voice.
You motioned for Rey to stop what she was doing and pulled off your mask. You opened the vent and crawled out.
"Long time no see, old man." Han and Chewie turned to you. Han slowly smiled and walked up to you pulling you into a hug.
"Hey kid," you sighed into his embrace. He pulled away. "What are you- who's this?"
You turned to Rey and Finn.
"This is Rey and Finn. They helped me escape Jakku."
"My ship was in Jakku?" Han turned to Chewie. "I told you we should've double checked the western reaches." Chewie groaned in response.
"Well now you have it back." You told the man. "Don't lose it again. I'm not stealing it back for you."
"Well now good ol' Han Solo has stolen the Millennium Falcon back from you. And don't worry, I'm not planning on losing it again." Han started to walk towards the cockpit.
"This is the Millennium Falcon. You're Han Solo!" Rey had a look of excitement on her face. You rolled your eyes.
"I used to be." You sighed and followed the man to the cockpit.
"Han Solo? The Rebellion General?" Finn asked.
"No, the smuggler." Rey contradicted.
"He was both." You informed the two.
"This is the ship that made the Kessel run in 14 parsecs!"
"Twelve!" You and Han called back in unison.
"Fourteen," Han scoffed. He studied the console. "Who messed with my hyperdrive?" He muttered to himself.
"Alright kid," he turned to you. "Let's get you back home. Chewie get them in a Pod!"
"Wait! No! We need your help!" Rey protested.
"My help?"
"This droid has to get to the resistance base as soon as possible!"
"Yeah," you turned to the girl. "That's where I'm going. The both you are going back to Jakku."
"What about Finn?" You narrowed your eyes.
"What about him?" Finn gulped nervously.
"He's with the resistance too."
You glared at the boy.
"Is he now?" You sighed and turned back to Han. "Whatever, I don't have time for this. Listen I need to back to base. BB-8's got a map to uncle Luke." Han paused and turned to you.
"You are the Han Solo that fought with the rebellion. You knew him." Han turned to Finn.
"Yeah, I knew Luke." Rey studied you.
"Did you say uncle?" Suddenly there was distant boom that stopped you from answering Rey's question.
"Don't tell me that a Rathtars gotten loose." Han muttered as he stood up from the seat.
"Rathtars!"You collapsed in the co-pilot seat and took a deep breath. This had been the worst day of your life by far. You studied the coordinates that Han and punched in and turned to him.
"Takodana? Really?"
"Maz might have something that can help us. And if she doesn't she has better access to getting you back to base." Your shoulder's fell in disappointment.
"You're not taking me back."
"Kid-"
"Nope it's fine." You stood up suddenly. "I'm used to it."
"Used to what?"
"Getting let down."
Han stood up and followed you to the back.
"Y/N, come on."
"No," you spun on your heal and faced him. "I've had the worst day of my life and I don't need you to make me feel guilty right now. You don't want to take me? That's fine. I don't care. But I need to get BB-8 back to base otherwise all of Poe's work-" your voice broke and tears formed in your eyes. It seemed to suddenly hit you that Poe was gone. You squeezed your eyes shut and turned away from him.
"Y/N... what happened to Poe?" Han rested a hand lightly on your shoulder. You shuttered and turned back to him tears streaming down your face.
"Poe's dead, dad."
Han's jaw dropped. He didn't know what to say.
"Kid..." he pulled you into a hug and you cried on his shoulder. You let it all out. The grief that you'd been holding in for the past few hours.
"It was all because of this stupid mission. Why did he have to go missing? Poe's dead because of him!"
Your father just held you tightly and let you cry. He didn't know what to say, and you were thankful that he wasn't trying to say anything. He probably would've just made things worse if he opened his mouth.
He was notorious for that.
Suddenly there was a slight jolt and you pulled away from Han. The two of you walked back to the cockpit.
"Takodana." You whispered as you wiped your nose with the back of your hand.
"We're here."
