Are We Too Late?

Virgils POV

Me and Roman ran, and ran, trying to get to Kingsley before we were too late.
By the time we made it to where he was supposed to be, there was no one. So, either Paranoia lied, or...
No, he didn't lie.
I could see a chair in the river, with what looked like some cloth on it.
The river was very deep, and had an undertow, so I was guessing the chair got caught on a rock, or something.
"Ro..." I said, pointing to the chair. I couldn't swim, unfortunately, so I could only hope Roman could save Kingsley.
Roman dove in, and was swept quickly closer to the chair, barely able to keep his head afloat.
Don't drown, don't drown, don't drown, I chanted in my head, knowing that if they both died, I'd follow without thought.
Roman reached the chair, grabbing onto it, and tried to move it so that Kingsley's head would be above the water.
Unfortunately, the way it was caught on the rock prevented that. So, Ro started untying the knots that were keeping Kingsley there.
Them being wet must not have made it easier, and it took awhile.
When he finally finished and got Kingsley to the riverbank, the poor kid was unconscious...
Or was he...?

We waited for him to breathe, Ro giving him CPR, but it didn't appear to be working.

Nothing....

Not a breathe in over 5 minutes...

How could they...?

I started crying into Princey's shirt, and he was crying as well. We tried our best to comfort each other, but we were failing.

Then, I started imagining that Kingsley was alive, and well, remembering all the good times I had with him.

Suddenly, I was aware of breathing that wasn't mine or Romans.
Kingsley sat up, looking at us confused.
"Why are you crying?" Kingsley asked, and we tackled him in hugs.
"H-how?" Ro managed to choke out. Then, I remembered how Imagination worked. As Roman said, Just imagine something, and it'll appear.
I had been imagining Kingsley alive and well... did that...?
I did feel lightheaded, and one would imagine that reviving someone would take energy out of them...
Maybe, that would have to be the answer, for now.
"I'll explain later." I said, and Roman looked at me, confused, but brushed it off, and we continued hugging our son.
——
When we finished hugging Kingsley, and got back to the Mind Palace, it was already supper time, and I knew Patton would be worried.
"Where were you?!?!?!" I knew I was right.
"Saving Kingsley, then hugging him." I said, and then I told them I'd explain later, looking pointedly at Kingsley, who didn't notice, luckily.
"Okay, well..." I could tell Patton would get mad at us later.
"Food's on the table, if you're hungry." Logan said, and I could tell he was going to calm Patton down as we ate.
"Okay, thanks Logan." I said, and went to the table. Roman and Kingsley followed me.

After we finished eating, Kingsley said he was tired, so he went to his room.
I mean, he did die today, so...
Anyway, me and Ro explained what had happened to Kingsley, and I explained to all of them how I thought that it was my imagining that Kingsley was alive that brought him back.
"That is an interesting theory, and I hope to one day test it." Logan said, writing it down in a notebook. Everyone looked at him. "What? I wish to see if his hypothesis is correct."
"Uh.... I'll explain later, Logarithm." Patton said, and you could tell he heard what the rest of us did.
Anyway, we got a stern talking-to by Patton, but really, we got off easily, since Remus and Deceit explained what had happened.
"Can we go to bed now, or are you going to keep reprimanding us?" I asked, yawning. By this point, it was late, and I was tired.
"Okay, you can go, kiddos!" Patton said.
"You do need at least 8 hours of sleep to have maximum productivity." Logan said, as we walked down the hallway.
Logan and Patton went to Logan's room, and me and Roman went to his room.
I shut the door, and we kissed, then laid down to go to bed.
"Goodnight, my creepy cookie." Ro said.
"Goodnight, Princey." I said, and I fell asleep quickly.
——
When I woke up, Princey was still asleep, but he was talking.
At first, it was just mumbling, but then there was actual words.
This would be fun.
"Should I... what would Kingsley say... or Virge... maybe not..." Roman said. It took me a minute to understand what he was talking about, and when I did, I blushed bright red.
"Of course I'd say yes, Ro... why would you ever think not?" I whispered, hoping he would hear me, but not remember.
"But what about Kingsley?" Well, I could guess.
"I'm sure he'd be happy for us, Princey. You know he sees us as his parents, and as a kid, I expect he'd imagine us married." I said, still tomato red.
"Well... what about Pat? He's your... dad..."
"Roman, I don't care what Patton would say. Besides, we both know he'd be ecstatic." I said, smiling as I imagined Patton finding out we were engaged
"But... I can't." Ro said, and frowned.
"Why can't you, exactly?" I asked.
"Too scared." He was still frowning.
"Roman Sanders, brave knight and prince of Imagination, scared? Impossible. Besides, I'll wait as long as necessary for you to make me yours." I said, knowing each word was true.
Finally, Ro smiled again.
"Okay," he said, then he stopped talking, falling into a deeper sleep.
Wait, if he was thinking about proposing... does that mean he already has a ring? I asked myself.
I knew I wouldn't get an answer, so I cuddled up to Princey, and fell asleep, yesterday having been too emotionally exhausting to get out of bed.

Yeah, in case y'all are wondering, that photo on top is me.
That's all I had to say, so...
