(I don't think I've asked this yet... so, which numbers would y'all give me?)
Virgil's POVA week after our little break in Imagination, we decided to go again. Dian and Macaji haven't done anything, so we figured it'd be safe enough.
This time, we went for a walk in the forest, which was nice.
After awhile, the forest suddenly seemed darker, colder... it was unnatural, to say the least.
"That's... not normal." Roman said, almost like he knew what I was thinking.
"Yeah..." I agreed. I saw his hand by his sword twitch.
I could hear the river that had been by us the whole time. It sounded amplified now, louder than before.
I tightened my grip on Ro's hand, scared.
We kept walking, on alert now, and eventually the river was in front of us, instead of beside us.Roman's POV
I heard footsteps behind us, and we turned around. (Back to names, and the occasional movement. Also, sorry bout the POV switch, it's only that it's easier in Roman's POV for the singing parts)
"Hold my hand,
Ooh, baby, it's a long way down to the bottom of the river." Macaji. I grabbed my sword, ready to attack. (Bottom of the river by Delta Rae)
"Hold my hand,
Ooh, baby, it's a long way down, a long way down." Macaji. Suddenly, someone was behind me, and had pinned my wrists behind my back, causing me to drop my sword.
"If you get sleep or if you get none." Macaji took Virge's hand.
"The cock's gonna call in the morning, baby." I recognized that voice. It was Dian. He was the one pinnng my arms behind my back.
"Virgil, don't trust-" I started. Dian made me keep my mouth shut. Stupid mind control, I thought.
"Check the cupboard for your daddy's gun." Macaji.
"Red sun rises like an early warning." Dian.
"The Lord's gonna come for your first born son." Macaji.
"His hair's on fire and his heart is burning." Dian.
"So go to the river where the water runs." Macaji. I saw him slowly start leading Virgil towards the river.
"Wash him deep where the tides are turning." Dian.
"And if you fall,
If you fall,
Hold my hand,
Ooh, baby, it's a long way down to the bottom of the river." Macaji sang, and he spun Virge.
"Hold my hand,
Ooh, baby, it's a long way down, a long way down,
The wolves will chase you by the pale moonlight." Macaji.
"Drunk and driven by a devil's hunger." Dian.
"Drive your son like a railroad spike." Macaji.
"Into the water, let it pull him under." Dian. I noticed that Virgil was shaking. He must've been terrified.
"Don't you lift him, let him drown alive." Macaji.
"The good Lord speaks like a rolling thunder." Dian.
"Let that fever make the water rise." Macaji.
"And let the river run dry." Dian.
"And I said,
Hold my hand,
Ooh, baby, it's a long way down to the bottom of the river." Macaji sang and he spun Virge again.
"Hold my hand,
Ooh, baby, it's a long way down, a long way down,
Hold my hand,
Ooh, baby, it's a long way, a long long long way." Macaji. Vi was shaking a little less now. Were they brain washing him, or whatever it was, again?
"Hold my hand." Macaji. Macaji spun and dipped Virgil, smirking. Why was he doing this???
"Ooh, baby, it's a long way down, a long way down." Macaji. Dian made me move closer to the river.
"Hold my hand." Macaji. Dian kicked the back of my knees, forcing me to kneel.
"Hold my hand." Macaji. Dian kicked my sword out of my reach.
"Hold my hand." Macaji sang, and he dipped Virge yet again.
"It's a long way down to the bottom." Macaji.
"Hold my hand." Macaji sang, singing louder now.
"It's a long way down, a long way down." Virge sang. NO!!
"Hold my hand,
Ooh, baby, it's a long way down." Macaji.
"Hold my hand,
Ooh, baby, it's a long way down." Dian.
"Hold my hand,
Ooh, baby, it's a long way down." Vi sang hesitantly.
"Hold my hand,
Ooh, baby, it's a long way down, a long way down." Macaji sang as Dian tied my wrists together with rope.
"So, are we done here, Macaji?" Dian asked after he was done.
"Virgil! Can you help me? Please?" I cried.
"Shh, don't listen to him." Macaji said, waving a hand in front of Virge.
Vi nodded slowly, and I saw a faint red X appear on his cheek.
"And yes, we're done here." Macaji said, answering Dian.
"What're you two doing?" I asked, hoping they'd tell me.
"You'll see." Macaji said.
"I'd rather know, not just find out." I said, but I had no hope.
"It's a surprise. But, for now... ta-ta Roman!" Dian said, and they all disappeared in a faint white smoke.
I waited for a minute.
"AMAI!! LIN!!" I yelled, hoping they were close enough to hear me.
Luckily, one of them heard me, since I heard the flap of wings, then Amai landed.
"Hello- what happened?" Amai asked, coming over to me, to untie me.
"Well..." I said, then I explained.
"Oh god no... Macaji is Persuasion..." Amai explained.
"What can he do?" I asked.
"Well, he can manipulate others, and brain wash them." Amai explained.
"That's what he did to Virgil and Vivian." I said.
"I'm not surprised, as we saw him use it lots, before the whole 'getting outcasted' thing."
"Okay, so he's worked with Dian before, and obviously knows exactly how his powers work... but how do we get Virge to snap out of it?" I asked.
"His magic is mainly powered by music, so singing something?" Amai suggested.
"Okay... where does he usually go? That theatre, or was that a one time thing?" I asked.
"He probably went back to the theatre." Amai said.
"Okay, well let's go then!" I said, standing up.
"Alright." Amai stood up. "I have a few different ways to get there, but your choice. Do you want to get there quickly, or take the long way?"
"As quick as possible." I said.
"Okay. Brace yourself." Amai said, then they jumped up and went slightly into the air.
"Okay..." I said, worried as to what this idea was.
Amai took a deep breath, then they flew up into the sky, then dived back down, picking me up. Very soon, we were above the tree tops.
I closed my eyes, trying to calm the twisting in my stomach.
"Scared of heights there, prince?" Amai asked.
"Shush Amai." I said, trying to imagine myself on the ground, not far above it, the only thing keeping me from falling Amai.
"How much farther?" I asked, my eyes still closed.
"Not far." Amai said.
