Roman's POV

I woke up the next morning, still confused as to what I had been told yesterday.
Fairly unsurprising, Virgil was already awake, playing on his phone, at the end of the bed, so I decided to talk to Tessa later.
"Good morning, sunshine." Virge said. He must've felt the bed move, or something, cause I didn't make any noise, and he didn't turn around until after he was finished speaking.
"Good morning, storm cloud." I said, moving next to him. "So... how about a date night?"
"Mm, sounds great, Ro." Vi said, cuddling close to me. I wrapped my arms around him, and we stayed in comfortable silence for awhile.
"Y'know, this'll be our first date." Virge pointed out, eventually.
"Yeah, you're right. I guess we've been too busy with what's been happening lately to go one a date. Actually," I realized, "when I got taken by a Dragon-Witch. We were on a date then."
"Oh yeah. Well, hopefully Tessa'll let this one happen without incident. Actually, better not to find out, I'll be right back." Virgil said, then he sunk down, probably to Tessa's room.

Virgil's POV

I appeared outside of Tessa's door, and knocked.
"Come in!" Tessa yelled, and I opened the door, walking in. She turned around in her chair, facing me instead of her writing desk.
"You know why I'm here, don't you?" I asked. She nodded.
"Yep. How else could I write, unless I know what's going on?" Tessa asked.
"True. Wait, why are you, Protection, the author, when you're constantly throwing us into dangerous situations?" I asked. She smirked.
"Who gets you outta them? Who makes sure no one dies? The author, that's who. So yes, I've thrown you into some not-so-great situations, but I make sure you get out of them." Tessa said. "Anyway, without spoiling what Roman has planned for you - you're gonna love it - I promise no issue will arise, okay Virge?"
"Okay, thanks Tess." I thanked her, then sunk out.

Roman's POV

When Virgil came back, he seemed to be in higher spirits, and I had everything planned for our date.
"So, what d'ya got planned?" Virge asked, sitting next to me on the bed.
"I'm not telling you anything. I want it to be a surprise." I said, and Virge frowned slightly.
"Please?" Vi asked, making puppy-dog eyes.
"Sorry, Vi, I don't wanna ruin the surprise! Wait, did Tessa tell you?" I asked.
"No, she just told me that I'd like it. So, now I'm curious."
"Makes sense. But, you don't get to know anything yet." I said, and Virge sighed.
"Fine. But what about Kingsley?" (That poor child that I always forget about)
"Patton said he didn't mind watching him. Don't worry, everything's planned out, okay?"
"Okay." Virge agreed.
"Well, we have a little while, so...?" I said, asking what he wanted to do. Virge smirked.
"I might have an idea," he said, then he kissed me.
——
"Bye, Kingsley." I said, hugging my son as me and Virge left for our date.
"Goodbye, my mighty King." Vi said, hugging Kingsley.
"Bye, guys! See you later!" Patton said, and me and Virgil went into Imagination.
"So, can I know now?" Virge asked. I smiled and shook my head.
"Nope, not yet, Vi." I said.
"Why though?" Virgil asked.
"Because, surprises are nice." I explained.
"Not really." Vi huffed.
"Oh, c'mon, you'll love it like, Tessa said." I promised.
"Sure. Well, whatever, let's go." Virge said, and we went to the cliff.
"So, what're we doing here?" Vi asked.
"What do you think?" I asked. Virge smiled.
"All right, all right, I know why we're here." Vi said.
"Yeah. Now c'mon, we've gotta wait before I can show you what I wanted to." I said, so we sat down, our legs dangling off the edge of the cliff.
——
"Ready? It's soon." I said after a while. Virgil looked up.
"Yeah, I'm ready." Virge said. Then, the sun started setting, and it was beautiful.
"Oh Princey, this is..." words failed him.
"Just wait, this is just the beginning." I said, and after the sun finished setting, the stars came out.
"Ro... this is beautiful." Vi said.
"I know. I've been here lots before, unable to sleep. One night, I found this spot, and it became my go-to spot whenever I couldn't sleep, or had a creative block. I just decided to show you." I said, as though it were nothing. Really, I had never shown anyone this place before; it was my private spot. My little place whenever I wanted to get away. (I wish I had one of those)
"Well, thanks for showing me, Ro. I can't believe how beautiful it is." Virge said.
"Neither can I, half the time." I admitted.
We stayed in silence for a while, just looking at the beautiful sky.
Eventually though, I began to get sleepy, and yawned.
"Tired, Princey?" Virge asked. I nodded.
"Yeah, m-maybe," I yawned. "Maybe we should go back now..."
"Okay, c'mon Ro." Vi said, standing up, then offering me his hand. I took it, standing up.
"Need help walking, Roman?" Virgil asked. I shook my head.
"I'll be good." I said, yawning again.
"If you're sure. Let's go, then." Vi said, and we went back to the door between Imagination and the Mind Palace.
"C'mon, Sleeping Beauty, let's go to your bedroom." Virge said. I was half-awake by this point, and he was sorta helping me walk.
Virgil led me to my bedroom, to my bed, and we laid down.
"Goodnight, sleepyhead." Virge said.
"Goodnight, love." I said, falling asleep quickly.

Virgil's POV

Well, Tessa was right, the date was good.
"Thank you." I whispered out loud.
"No problem." Said a voice that sounded suspiciously like Tessa's.
"What the-"
The voice giggled.
"Were you-?" I asked, not finishing the sentence, but I knew she'd understand.
"Yep. I'm always around. Wait, that sounds creepy. More like, I can see from your guys' perspective. Don't worry, I doubt I'll see anything bad, I tend to keep things Patton-friendly." Tessa's voice said.
"Okay, um... are you here, or how can I hear you?" I asked. Roman rolled a little, I must've spoken too loud.
"No, I'm in my room. And don't worry, I doubt Roman'll wake up. I have a feeling the little Prince is a heavy sleeper."
"How did you?" I asked, and she giggled again.
"Oh, I can still sorta read your mind, but only when you're mind's at its weakest, like when you're tired, or hurt or something." Tessa explained.
So you can read my mind? I thought.
"Yep. It's a little glitchy, and I have a feeling that eventually it'll disappear, but for now, yeah, I can." Tessa said. "Now sleep, Virge, you're tired, I know it. Be-Sides," Tessa giggled at the pun, "since I'm a Side now, you can talk to me whenever. Anyway, I'd better get to sleep, and you too, Virge, unless you want me to wake Remy, who finally managed to fall asleep for once."
"Okay, I'll sleep. Goodnight." I said.
"Goodnight." I heard faintly, and I fell asleep.
