Shay

Pulling up at Devin's place, I sat in my car for a minute and exhaled. Once I was relaxed, I fished my keys out and went in.

"Babe?" He called.

"Who else would it be nigga?" I laughed.

"Could have been my side girl." He approached me laughing. 

"You value your life too much to have a side chick while with me." I smiled before kissing him.

"You're right." He laughed.

Walking into the kitchen, with him behind me, I smiled when I saw the pot of Gumbo.

"What you doing home?" I asked getting a bowl.

"Shay didn't you just come from-"

Turning and staring at him, he stopped speaking.

"Like I asked, how come you're home?"

"I didn' take long talking to Yung bout some business and well I told him bout us."

"Oh and what did he say?"

Getting himself a bowl, he joined me by the table and recalled how things went down.

"That's probably why he told her he was working late." I shook my head.

"What you mean?"

"Aug called Alei while we were at lunch and it was apparently to tell her he would be working late and its like the fourth time this week."

"Really?"

"Yea. Like I don't know what's going on with them. Alei doesn't really say much anymore and I'm not mad because it's her business but since their case began, its just been different and I don't want to be walking on egg shells during m pregnancy."

"Talk to Alei. She's your best friend so just talk to her."

"Yea I'll do that." I agreed. "Now about that thing."

"Shay we're not having this conversation again." He got up and walked off.

"Why not?"

"Because I said we aren't, now just let that shit go."

A couple months ago after running into Caleb's father, I've had to deal with him stalking me basically. He was the guy who would just linger outside my New York store and everything. Once I had finally told Devin, I guess he decided to take matters into his own hands.

"I can't because he's still Cay's father at the end of the day."

"And what has he done for him? Nothing! So just leave it alone."

"I just don't want anything to happen to you."

"Nothing is going to happen so just relax before you stress out my baby." He rubbed my belly.

Smiling, he kissed me before walking off. Finishing clean up in the kitchen, I got my phone and texted Alei letting her know that I needed to talk to her. As I made may way to our room, I paused when I heard Devin speaking on the phone.

"Yeah man. I'll be out there on Saturday."

Confused, I just kept quiet. The conversation after he said that had changed.

"Where are you going Devin?" I mumbled to myself.

Finally making my presence known, he was off the phone.

"I was just about to call you."

"Oh ok. Whats up?"

"I got you something."
