Alei

"Mommy look!"

Pulling me towards the clothing store, Amirah was showing me a pair of converse. Snickering to myself, I just shook my head.

"I'm coming ladybug. No need to pull me."

Entering the store, she let go of my hand and ran and got the shoe.

"You like those?"

"Yes." She nodded.

After an attendant approached us, I told her the sizes I needed and in which shoes.

Shoe shopping for Amirah was a bit tedious. Aside from her out growing her shoes overall, what she wanted was completely different to what she needed.

"I'm getting you these."

"I don't want those." She pouted at some slip ons.

"Its not what you want, I've always told you that."

Huffing, she sat on the little seat with her arms folded.

"You're not about to embarrass me in this mall." I said below my breath.

Hearing my tone, she instantly settled. As much as I love her being outspoken, I still had to deal with that attitude.

Once the attendant came back, she helped Mirah try on her shoes before we paid for them and left.

"Last stop is the craft store so we can finish off this project you have and finish this outfit for your class play."

Looking up as she held my hand, she smiled. Entering the store she once again took off while I got a basket. Craft was one of our bonding times and we did it regularly.

"Mommy."

"Yes Amirah?"

"Uncle August."

Hearing his name, I sighed. Its been a week since we decided on making up, but after that day, I barely heard from him. I tried contacting him but most times I got voicemail or the fact that he couldn't talk.

"I'm sure he's busy babe, come on." I took her hand.

"You sure about that?"

Hearing his voice behind me, startled me. Turning around, he stood there with this smile on his face which then faded.

"What's wrong?"

Staring at him, what I wanted to say, I couldn't for the fact that my daughter and son were present.

"I know I've been ghost for a week but it was for a good reason." He began.

"Ok."

Going back to shopping, he took the other bags from me.

"That's it? Just an OK?"

"You said it was for a good reason, who am I to doubt that." I shrugged.

"You'a see soon though."

"Mhmm."

Finishing my errands, we left the mall and went to the parking lot.

"Are you coming over to my place?"

"I don't know, can I?"

"You can if you want, I'll make us some lunch and we can chill by the pool. How does that Sound Mirah?" He smiled at her.

Like always, she turned and looked at me for approval. One thing she knew was I had the final say.

"Fine but I have to drop these off home and get stuff for them."
