Laying my head back on the head rest, I took a deep breath and exhaled.
I had just gotten back to Atlanta after doing a couple out of town shows. Tonight we were expected to leave for our long awaited trip.
I had a couple surprised for Alei while we were out there, but its only to get out there.
Entering the house, I was surprised by how quiet and clean it was. Walking around, there was no sight or sound of anyone.
Making my way up to my room, as soon as I turned the knob and entered, I was hit with the freezing breeze from the air conditioning while she laid wrapped up in the covers.
"Babe?" I whispered as I shook her. "Cmon love. Time ta get up."
"Aug is that you?" She turned and look at me
Pulling on the covers, my hand grazed hers.
"Baybeh, ya burning up."
"Mmm. I'm fine."
Finally facing me, you could tell she was sick.
"Alei ya not fine. Where are the children and have you seen a doctor?"
"Mommy took them out so I could get some rest. Are you hungry? There's food down stairs."
I sat in amazement at how she was being. Here she is sick and she's trying to accommodate me.
"You relax. I'll call your mother and doctor Sanders."
"Its ok babe. I'm fine." She struggled to smile.
"OK love."
Not bothering to argue with her, I pulled her cover back over her and kissed her cheek before walking out.
This was a complete set back in our plans and I just knew that our doctor wouldn't let her fly in this state.
Getting my phone I called her momma first, I needed to know what was going on and why no one called me.
"August, hi."
"Hey Ms. E, what's going on with Alei? How come yeen call me?"
"It wasn't serious to call, is she OK?"
"I just got in and she is burning up."
"I wasn't aware of any fever. All she told me was she was going to lay down for a bit so I suggested taking my grand babies out for some fun."
"Oh. Well I'm bout to call our doctor because she really don't look too good."
"Ok. I'm at the park not to far from by you so I'll come back then."
