"Castle, what are you doing?" I questioned, walking into our room where he was sitting on the floor, brayden in his lap, and he was reading off our pros and cons list to him about every venue we'd considered. I could see magazine after magazine piled up on either side of him as Brayden slapped his hand against the book his father was holding open.

He looked up at me, surprised I was questioning him, and stated, "I'm letting Brayden help choose where we're getting married. So far, he's thrown out two, maybed three and really liked that one with the beach out back and the indoor/outdoor reception area upstate. I think it's because of the light blues in the decor, but I figure it's still a beautiful venue."

"You're letting Brayden help?"

"Yeah."

"Rick, you won't even let your mother help."

His eyebrows raised in severity. "Do you have any idea what my mother would do to this wedding? It wouldn't be us, Kate. We would have a wedding fit for a theatre production. We would be putting on a show, not getting married. It would be awful."

"You're letting a kid who can't even speak yet pick our wedding venue. I would say there is less risk in bringing your mother in than you're pretending there is."

Rick shook his eyes, still stating factually, "No, No, trust me, Kate. We're better off this way."

My eyes rolled on instinct. "Alright, well, what does he think about that one?" Looking down at the small smile on our son's face as he tried his best to open his fist and grab the paper, I looked over the side to see which one he was looking at.

Rick commented, "Well, I've already said no to this one, but you should be thrilled that he's got your taste."

I kind of ignored Rick as I moved closer and addressed our son. "Oh, Honey B, is that one pretty?" I could feel it in my face as my expressions widened. He looked up at me and smiled, blue eyes gleaming in amusement. "Yeah?" I asked as I reached out for him and pulled him out of his father's lap. "Yeah. That's my baby boy Such a good, good boy."

"Hey, we weren't done," Rick complained.

I answered, "Aww, Bray, isn't that cute! He thinks you're still going to play wedding planner. He's so silly."

"If you didn't look so sexy with a baby on your side, I'd take him back."

"If you think you could take this little guy from me, you're kidding yourself." He just shook his head and stood up, grabbing a couple more books and holding the pictures up to Brayden. I smiled and shook my head as Brayden searched the two pictures and came up with one being his favorite. That one he grabbed from his dad's hands and Rick let him have it. He took the magazine and shook it around, releasing it from one hand and then grabbing it again to hold it on both sides. He then studied the picture and as I did, I talked to Rick in a tone that sounded like approving baby talk. "I think your mother's gonna be upset if she doesn't get the chance to work on this wedding. Yeah? I think she's gonna be mad."

He reflected the childish speech pattern as he replied, "I know that, sweetheart, but I'm not going to let her wreck your perfect day. Isn't that right, Brayden? We're not gonna let the theatrical woman wreck mommy's big day. No we're not. No we're not."

"Oh, come on, daddy, you're being a bit over dramatic, aren't you," I argued.

"No," he said, smiling and shaking his head in B's direction.

I rolled my eyes and switched Brayden to my other side as I told Castle, "We're not nearly done with this, but Alexis wanted to see you. She said she needed a thing for one of her courses. I have a feeling it was about money more than anything."
