Severed Ties

It has been a month since I was reunited with the Ghosts, Iv'e healed nicely. I only had a couple broken ribs and I was malnourished but now I am combat ready. Logan thinks it is a bad idea that I go with him and Hesh to the Atacama Desert, where a federation facility was located, but Merrick wanted me to go. I was a bit surprised when he told me because I still had a few cuts healing, but its nothing I couldn't handle though. I was loading my Honey Badger in the HELO when I overhear the pilot talking.

"Solid copy, Badger-One. Rally with fourth battalion and run hot to Echo Three-Two. High value acquisition underway in Foxtrot Nine. Ghost team are active. Repeat, Ghosts are en route" 

I smile at the mention of action, oh I missed it. I look over at Hesh and Logan. Logan staring at me with worried eyes, I can see why he was worried. It had only been a month but I was fine.

"You boys ready" I say with a smile 

"As ready as I'll ever be" Hesh says nudging Logan

"Mia are you sure you are up to this, because if your not its...." Logan begins to say before I interrupt him 

"Logan I'm fine" I say getting up and walking to him. I squat in front of him and hold his hand. "I am" I say giving him a soft smile and giving him a kiss on the cheek 

"Hey why don't I get one" Hesh says like he's six, and then laughs

I roll my eyes and ruffle his hair even though it is very short. I sit back down and wait for merrick to contact hesh.

"Hesh, this is Merrick. Latest intel has confirmed that Rorke is at the facility, but you have to get that missile launched first" Merrick says over coms

The mention of Rorke makes my blood boil

"Understood, Hesh out" Hesh says 

We make it to the building and make it inside and clear the room. 

"We're clear. Merrick, we've entered the target building proceeding to the launch control room" Hesh says though coms

Command: Copy, Actual.

We each a door. Hesh grabs a fire extinguisher.

 "Time to improvise. On your go" hesh says.

We breach the room. Hesh throws the fire extinguisher at the feds and I shoot the fire extinguisher which explodes, killing the fed solders.

 "Merrick, Launch Room secure" Hesh says

Hesh walks over to a control panel  and programs the missile to hit the Ground Array.

"Merrick, trajectory updated, preparing to launch warhead. Be advised, the area is covered by multiple" hesh says

Command: Understood, sending Badger battalion to clear the way, Command out.

"Let's launch this thing, would you like to do the honer" hesh says looking at me and moving out of the ways of the red button

"Ye i would" I say as I slam my hand into the button

The missile launches. A timer appears counting down from nine minutes until the missile hits.

 "Command, payload is away, we have a successful launch" Logan says 

Command: Command copies all. Good work, gentlemen.

I hear Rorke's voice on a feds radio chatter.

"You hear this? It's Rorke. He's here. They're evacuating on the train system below. Merrick, the missile's away and we've got a lead on Rorke, I'll go after him so the boy will be safe" I say onto the coms

 "Negative Mia. Return to rally point. We'll track him down together". Merrick says

"Sorry Merrick. Your mission is complete. Mine isn't. I'm gonna get this bastard." I says

I begin to walk away for the boys and Logan grabs my arm.

"You are not going by yourself, I'm coming with you" Logan says

"Me too" Hesh says 

"Well lets go then" I say
