N A N D I N I

Next day

I sat on the fan as I was getting bored and no one was there to talk to me. Even Manik was busy in preparing for the press conference whereas rest of the human beings can't see me. Hush! Yeh insaan humesha itne busy kyu rahte hai?

"Kyoki wo paise ke piche bhagte hai aur hum peace ke piche" I heard a voice from below. I looked down and found a guy standing with a sweet smile playing on his lips. I jumped from the fan and stood in front of him. He seems to be a good boy or maybe ghost?

"Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. Myself Vihaan. I live in the apartment below yours." He smiled again and paused for a moment. "And you?"

"I'm Nandini. Sorry I can't say anything else about me as I don't remember who I was, before my death." I replied sadly. He stood beside me and held my shoulder lightly. "Don't lose hope! You'll regain your memory some or other day." He tried motivating me which somewhere eased my heart.

"Thank you for your words. By the way, what are you doing here?" I asked him while he sat on the couch and continued looking around. "I came to know that we have a new ghost here - Nandini. So thought of meeting her, or should I say 'you'." He replied in the most polite manner. Manik aise baat nahi kar sakta kya?

He told me about other ghosts living nearby and other stuffs. "Waise if you need any thing - like chai-patti (tea leaves), cheeni (sugar) - then come to me without any hesitation. Akhir padoshi-dharm hota hai naye padoshi ki help karna."

I giggled on his words and said, "I'll surely let you know if I need anything." He nodded and asked me, "Now I need to go. My wife would be waiting for me."

"You have a wife? Is she dead?" I asked him in soft voice, trying not to hurt his feelings. He gave a faint smile and said, "She's alive. I committed suicide two years ago due to stress. At that time, I forgot I had a wife who would be shattered on my death. But the stress was too much for me to handle. So I quit."

"You shouldn't have done that. You could have fought back and lived for your wife."

"I know and I regret committing suicide. I have seen my wife crying for my presence. She is managing the house alone and has taken all the responsibilities on her shoulder. Our family members are forcing her to remarry but she denies every time." He seemed to be lost and it was no big deal for me to figure out that he was guilty- guilt of leaving his wife alone in this cruel world.
