THIRTY ONE

I step back and join my brothers once again.

We didn't have to wait long, the intense scent of power brushed over the air and we knew dad has arrived. Many wolves bowed their head as dad came on to the field, he had a smile on his face as he waved to his people, Craig walking behind him.

He caught my eyes through the crowd and sent me a wink. Imagine a forty year old winking at you.

Growls irrupted from around me. Luca, Zain, Axel and Alec.
I couldn't help but smile, I got a family who supports me fully. The only thing standing between me and my happy life is my father.

"Are you sure you want to do this Renesmaé." My father asks staring deep into my eyes. " imagine how lovely your life will be, a princess to a strong warrior."

"Alec, is an Alpha. He is my mate." I state, a few gasps forming from the crowd. Well now they know.

I remain still and strict not breaking eye contact. I am not that weak girl he brought up, the one without the mother, the one who relied on her brother attention.

The Elders approaches us and stood in between of my father and my siblings.

"Are you three sure you wish to challenge you father for the title."

"We do."

"So be it. Please get ready. You will start the fight when I say."

Zain cracked his knuckles, jumping up and down on the spot. " I'm so ready."
He then started punching the air in front of him boosting his adrenaline.

Luca looked over at his pregnant wife before looking at my sisters and me.

I smiled up at him but quickly broke my stare when my name was shouted through the crowd.

"Renezmaé!!! Wait!  Before you die you need to take this." Derek yelled running through the crowd, honestly you would think he was a teenager the way he acted.

"Really Shinzi? Do you have no faith in me?" I ask turning to face him.

"I do, I just needed you attention, here. Uncle made it especially for you, he is here to, I was just faster at getting it to you."

I looked up at James and nodded a thanks, clutching my weapon in my hands, it was the perfect weight.

"Wish me luck Derek." I state clutching the metal.

"Ahh I know you got it doll." He states before turning away from me and walking back behind the barrier where the rest of our family and friends were standing.

I turned back to face my brothers and my father.

"And what's that?" Zain asked raising his eyebrow.

"Like Violet said, a great warrior can fight in human just as well as in wolf. This allows me to fight just as well as Snow." I twisted the metal bar between my fingers. Alpha James made me practice with a long silver stick , it was as long as my height and looked like spear. This one though I can see he made just for me.

The long metal stick had patterns embroidered on either end, with my initials RS in the center, either end of the stick had to curved daggers, they looked like the crescent moon.

I twisted the stick in front of me and then behind me, twisting it over my head just to get a feel for my new toy.

"Are you all ready?" The elder asked.

My siblings nod, and my fathers eyes shift purple- the color of a wolf.

"I love you idiots." I whisper to my brother, feeling deep down in the pit of my stomach a sense of fear.
