Bright, Off, and Tay both have the next 48 hours off. This obviously means that Tay is making them go to his new cabin for a gang's day, whatever that means.

Win's giggling as Bright explains this to him.

"How romantic," he teases as he leans up against Bright car. Bright's just finished his shift and Win's about to start him. "With you and Tay both gone, my chances of riding the desk are much higher, so that sucks."

"It's all about you, huh?" he asks.

Win shrugs nonchalantly and Bright just shakes his head. "Well, I hope you enjoy your lover's getaway with them," Win says, grinning widely.

"Don't be jealous, Win," Tay says as he approaches them. Win jumps in surprise but then turns to Tay and smiles. Off is following closely behind Tay, wearing an amused smirk.

"But I am. When will you see how great we could be together?" Win jokes.

Tay puts a hand over his heart and looks at him lovingly. Win rolls his eyes and sighs.

"I'm going to be late for parade. Have fun guys," he says and meets Bright's eyes for a moment before turning around and heading into the station.

Bright watches as Win falls into step with Gun, who had been waiting for him at the front door. He can hear Win's laugh from where he's standing and it makes his stomach tie into a knot. He jumps into his car and pulls out of the parking lot, following Tay and Off to this unknown location.

Once they settle into the cabin, Bright leans back in the chair and closes his eyes. It is kind of nice getting out of the city. The air is fresh and it's quieter.

Tay's going on about his husband and their most recent argument. Bright cringes. He hates that his best friend is having these marital issues. Off is still making it work with Gun, and he's happier than Bright has seen him in years.

"How about another beer?" Bright asks, leaning forward and handing Tay a bottle of frost.

"You guys will figure it out, Tay. You always do," Off says kindly.

Tay nods, but his expression is doubtful.

"What's up with you and Metawin?" Off asks casually, obviously trying to take the spotlight off of Tay.

Bright shrugs. "Nothing."

Tay grins. "I'm glad someone else has noticed," he says to Off.

Off chuckles. "Who hasn't noticed?"

Bright furrows his brow. "What? There is nothing to notice," he says, taking a long pull from his beer. He couldn't have this conversation sober, that's for sure.

"Bright, we're not stupid. You're talking to your best friends who are also cops. We notice these things," Off says with, laughter in his voice.

"He's a rookie," Bright offers up lamely.

"So is Gun," Off reasons.

"I'm a training officer."

Off lets out a long hmph and nods. "But if he weren't a rookie…?"

Bright shrugs, deciding to humor his friends. "If he weren't, it still wouldn't work. He doesn't date cops. He has more trust issues than I do. He wants friendship from me. He trusts me as his friend. He is so close with Rachel that he's practically family. He's always going to be in my life, so I can't fuck it up."

"Seems like this is something you've thought about a lot," Tay says quietly, wearing a crooked smile.

"I'm leaving this all up to Metawin. If he wants something more from me, he has to be the one to initiate it."
