Doctor, Doctor (A Joult and Joshifer Story)

Chapter 1

*PRESENT*

A sharp pain curses through my leg and I scream out in agony.

My parents come bursting through my bedroom door and bombard me with questions. "What happened?" "What's wrong?" "Do you need to go to the hospital?"

I wave them away with my free hand. My other hand is clutching my leg that feels like a million swords stabbed it.

"What happened?" My mom says eagerly. She takes a seat next to me on my bed and puts her hand on my leg, causing another round of pain, another sword stabbing me.

I just shake my head. It's not that I don't want to talk. It's that I can't talk. I'm sobbing to loudly, that my voice would barely be audible.

"Let's drive her to the hospital!" My dad says. He picks me up, and carries me out to the car.

I cry the whole way there.

"The doctor will be right with you," a nurse says before walking out of the room.

I didn't want to come here. Albeit my leg still hurts, I've stopped crying. I'm able to speak now but I still choose not to.

When we got to the hospital, my mom and dad had to fill out tons of forms. I just sat there in the chair holding on to my leg tightly and trying my best not to cry.

I'm doing the same now, except I'm on a hospital bed instead of a waiting room chair.

After what seems like an eternity, a doctor appears at the desk outside my door. He stands there talking to the nurse at the computer for a couple minutes.

In those few minutes, I get only a few quick glimpses of him. But never his face. He has short black hair. He's tall and skinny. And even from the back, looks extremely handsome in his lab coat.

After a few more minutes, the doctor takes a folder off the desk, says one more thing to the nurse, and then walks my door.

When he opens the door, I see his face clearly for the first time and when I do, my breath hitches. It can't be him! I think to myself.

"Hello Jen," he says. "Good to see you all again!"

"Is that Nick?" My mom whispers to my dad.

"I think so!" My dad says sadly.
