Chapter 19

JOSH'S P.O.V.

After driving around the block a few more times. I get an idea. I drive home and run straight to my parents basement. I haven't been down here in ages.

When I was younger, I used to come down here and play my guitar. When Jen was over, which was very often, she would sing as I played. Once Jen started dating Nick, Jen didn't come down here anymore. So I played my guitar alone. I never heard Jens voice again. Even when we were dating, Jen refused to come down here. She never told me why, and I never pushed it. I knew better. Jen was broken, and I wanted desperately to fix her... But she wouldn't let me.

It's the same now. Jens broken, this time literally, and she has to choose between Nick and Myself. I know this is adding a lot of stress to Jens life. I want to make this as easy as possible for her... But with Jen, nothing's easy.

I walk to the cabinet I put my guitar in before I left for Georgia, to film my movie, and open the door to find a sheet of dust covering everything. I grab my old guitar, a box of wipes, then walk to the old rugged couch and sit down.

Wiping it off was a hassle, but I managed and after 45 minutes of scrubbing, the guitar looks brand new. I tune the guitar, set up my phone so I can video tape myself, it record, and then okay the song.

It takes a couple of tries, but I finally record one I like. I delete the others and send the good one to Jen along with a special message.

JENS POV

Doctor Suvil came into my room about an hour or so ago. He said that I need to start Kemo soon. I agreed but only because I really don't have a choice. I miss Josh, even though I've spent the last... What? Three? Two?...years without him. Just knowing that he's home and not here with me hurts me more than this cancer does. I miss Nick to... But not in the same way. With Nick, all we do is fight... But I can use a fight right now... I need to let off some steam.

My phone busses interrupting my thoughts. I don't want to answer it. I'm not in the mood to type or read. Then I remember that I texted Josh this morning and snatch my phone of the table. I want it to be Josh. I take a deep breath and look at who it's from. My stomach does flips. It's from Josh. I unlock my phone and read the message:

JOSH: Hey Jenny, sorry I left and didn't come back yet. Also, sorry I didn't respond earlier. I was busy making the video above. Watch it and listen to the lyrics. I'll see you soon.

My hands are shaking. I haven't heard those nicknames in forever... And no ones made me anything, in forever, either. With trembling hands, I click on the video.

Tears are already filling my eyes. He's gonna sing. Josh is gonna sing for me. With those thoughts in my head. I press play. Joshs amazing voice fills the tiny hospital room.
