Halfway through the following day, the students of class 1-A were lucky enough to be graced with two consecutive free periods as All Might wasn't available to supervise the hero studies lessons. Most of the students had grabbed the given chance to spend the two hours doing whatever their heart desired. Some went to the garden to soak up the afternoon sun, some went to the gym to train and hone their skills while a few stayed back in class to finish up on their reports, pass the time on their phones or have a chat with their friends.
Uraraka, being one of the few in class, finished up sending a text to her father, wishing him a good day before she pocketed her phone and turned to the boy sitting behind her. Iida was fully immersed in his work, a concentrated look on his face while he attempted to solve a Mathematics problem that the others had failed to decipher during the lesson.
Uraraka folded her arms over the back of her seat and from her position, she studied him while he worked. At one point, Iida let out a frustrated sigh when he hit a snag and he rubbed the space between his furrowed eyebrows. Uraraka smiled, maybe it was time to take a break.
"Hey, Iida."
The boy's eyes snapped up from his exercise book to her. "What is it?"
"Would you like to go to the library with me to write our reports?" she tilted her head and sheepishly laughed. "I haven't started on mine yet but I'll kinda need some help with some of my vocabularies."
"My apologies," Iida placed a hand on his chest, his pen still between his fingers. "I'm honored by the invite but I'll have to decline," he gestured to the book on his desk. "I planned to use this time to brush up on my Mathematics so I won't be able to join you."
"Aw," Uraraka's lips twisted in a pout, "that's okay."
Iida turned his head towards the direction of Shouto's seat. "Why don't you ask Todoroki instead?" he gave her a small smile. "He might not be too busy at the moment."
Uraraka regarded said boy with a hum. He had an open textbook in his hands and at a glance, one would think that the book's contents had his undivided attention. Although that wasn't the case as Uraraka noticed that he would often sneak occasional glances from over his book to the front of the class and then go back to staring vacantly at the book's page. Curious to see what was distracting him so much, she followed his line of sight.
She instantly regretted doing that.
She whipped her head back around, ignoring the sinking feeling in her stomach and set her lips into a brittle smile. Iida, who was quick to catch her reaction, rose a puzzled eyebrow.
"M-Maybe you're right," she said, her tone slightly wavering. "I should ask Todoroki."
The brunette didn't wait for Iida's answer as she was already rising from her chair to head over to Shouto. Iida watched her while she walked away before he directed his gaze to the front of the class, to where Midoriya was laughing at something (Y/n) showed him in her exercise book.
He sighed.
"Matters of the heart," he muttered, "are truly not for the fainthearted."
Shaking his head, he returned to his incomplete sum.
Perceiving her approach from the corner of his eyes, Shouto turned from his book to Uraraka.
"Hey there," she greeted him with a wave.
"Hey," he placed his book on his desk. "May I help you?"
Smiling, she clasped her hands behind her back. "Would you like to join me in the library to complete our reports?" she then added. "That is, if you're not occupied with other things..."
