(Y/n) looked away from her, her eyes falling somewhere. "Please don't ask me that."

The woman huffed out an exasperated sigh. Letting go of her hand, she straightened up and folded her arms over her chest.

"How do you expect me not to worry when you never want to talk about what happened that day? Your father told me you came home crying and you didn't come out of your room for hours. And after that day, you've been so closed up..." she shook her head. "And I-All you do is spend time with your friends and you don't bother talking to me or your father anymore about your problems."

(Y/n)'s narrowed eyes darted back to her. "Have you ever considered that maybe it's because I don't want to talk about it? Much less, to you?"

(M/n)'s shoulders slumped, a tinge cutting through her gut as she gaped at her daughter.

"Plus it's all in the past, so I don't get why you keep insisting on something that is already over with," (Y/n) continued, oblivious to the effects of her words. "And it's been what, six months since then?" she held up her palms. "Look, let me put it this way. I opened my eyes to the fact that he's not the person I thought he would be, okay? I was right before. He's a jerk and that's all he'll ever be. I was being delusional and he made me realize that I was just being in over my head."

(M/n) pursed her lips in silence.

"There," folding her arms over the counter, (Y/n) shrugged. "You got your answer."

The woman released a sigh and uncrossed her arms. This was harder than I thought it was going to be.

"You know, honey..." she began, setting her palms on the island. "Your grandmother used to have this saying she'd tell me all the time..."

When she didn't complete her sentence, (Y/n) glanced to the side before shrugging in a silent 'what is it?'

(M/n) smiled, happy that she was at least listening to her. "She used to say that sometimes, the relationships that always seem irreparable, when they do get fixed, they turn out to be one of the strongest bonds ever made. Well, that is to say, if it does actually work out."

(Y/n) stared at nothing for a while, silent and contemplating. And just when (M/n) had started thinking that she had managed to get through to her, (Y/n) scoffed and looked down at her book.

"Can we stop talking about him, please?" she muttered with a frown playing on her lips. "I came down here for something else."

The woman sighed in resignation before shrugging. "Okay, fine. What is it?"

As (Y/n) started explaining her problem, (M/n) set her mouth in a hard line while she studied her.

Yet another failed attempt as a mother to get her daughter to open up.

The amount of times she had gotten shut down was practically countless at that point. Every time the topic revolved around Katsuki and she'd come close to finding out what happened between them, (Y/n) would always shut her out with the same response in different forms; 'I don't want to talk about it', 'not now', 'please stop', 'it's nothing'. If she were being honest, she was getting tired of it. But since she couldn't force her daughter to talk as she also deserved some privacy in her life, she always left it at that.

Besides, it wasn't like she didn't have an idea of what happened. She was her mother, she knew everything about her. Starting from when she started crushing on their neighbor's son to when she stopped altogether. All she wanted was for (Y/n) to talk to her and allow her to help her move past it the best way she could. She didn't judge her daughter for shutting her out. It was typical teenager behavior so she perfectly understood why she was acting like that. Although, what (Y/n) didn't know was that, whatever she was doing, wasn't the least bit healthy for her.
