Homecoming was finally here. Shawn and I agreed to take a couple of pictures individually before the whole group arrived at my house. All of my friends were probably going to be doing the same things with their dates before heading to my place. So, all of the girls met at Emily's to do hair and makeup. While we are always looking for an excuse to get a fancy styling at the salon, this year we thought that it would be just as good to do each other's hair. We brought pictures and looked up tutorials and by the end of the amount of time we allowed ourselves, all of us looked beautiful. I was a little scared what Shawn might say, since I never wear this much makeup, but I have high hopes. We all said our goodbyes and returned back home. I slipped on my dress and stared at myself in the mirror.
"Damn," I said to myself. While I have always been comfortable with my body image, I loved how I looked even more today. I smiled as I smoothed any wrinkles in the dress that I found. The doorbell rang within the next 3 or 4 minutes. I listened as my mother opened the door.
"Shawn, wow, you look dashing," she swooned. I could picture him blushing and smiling at her. Maybe he even hugged her, I'm not sure, but I couldn't wait to see how handsome he looked. I walked down the stairs, careful not to trip and humiliate myself. As I descended the staircase, Shawn couldn't take his eyes off of me. His jaw was probably down to the floor. But wow. He cleans up nice.
"You... You look stunning," he told me. He grabbed my hand on the last couple of steps and kissed it as I got the landing.
"Mom, you were right. He does look very dashing," I smiled at Shawn, holding onto his jacket. His tie really did match the dress perfectly and he looked amazing. I still can't believe he's mine, I mean, he's perfect. I grabbed his boutonnière and we went into the front yard, where Mrs. Mendes was waiting.
"Nicole, you look beautiful!" She exclaimed, rushing up to hug me. While we haven't talked much, I'm sure she feels a connection to me since Shawn and I are so close. Soon, both our moms stepped away and prepared their cameras. Shawn grinned at me adorably and put the corsage on my wrist. It sucks to have the hard job, though. My mom probably got 100 pictures of me failing to pin the blue flower to his jacket. Once I finally got it, we assumed the typical homecoming position. Even though I was wearing heels, he was still taller than me. I wrapped my arm around his back as he snaked his around my waist. We smiled for what felt like forever before Shawn bent down. He slid an arm under my legs and picked me up bridal style. This was gold for our mothers and their cameras. He was looking at me like a goofball and I was tilting my head back, laughing at him.
There were a lot of cute pictures taken, I'm sure. We took one where he stood behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. There was one where I kissed his cheek. And I'm pretty sure there are going to be too many candids to count. Let's just say my Instagram followers may get a little annoyed with all of my posts. Oh well.
Soon, everyone was arriving at my house with their dates and their parents. Even though I'm sort of inclined to say it, I think that Shawn looked the best out of all of the guys there. I took a picture with practically everyone, not to mention the millions of group photos we took. We had decided earlier that we weren't going to do the whole limo and fancy restaraunt things, so we all drove and met up at a pretty casual restaurant. Everyone was basically carpooling but Shawn and I went off on our own in his car so we could jam out to our own music without judgement. I feel like every time I'm in the car with him we find a new song. We could never be one of those couples with our own song, since we have bonded over so many. But, we would never be a normal couple anyway considering that millions of people follow our every move.
We arrived at the restaraunt in the middle of She Looks so Perfect, and Shawn ran around to my car door to open it after turning the car off. He was being such a gentleman to me.
