After school on Thursday, my mission was to find the perfect dress to wear on my date with Shawn. I was driving to the mall, listening to the radio until I found a parking spot and got out of the car. I immediately got to work, since I know this mall like the back of my hand. I stopped at Forever 21 first, since I'm usually successful finding what I am looking for here. I found two dresses that I thought were really cute, but I couldn't choose between them. The key to shopping there is looking through the clothes in the back because they're known to hide the good stuff.
I grabbed them off their racks and walked to the dressing room, hoping that one would stick out to me as significantly better than the other. Both looked great on me, and since I was hoping on a second date with Shawn, I ended up buying them both. I stopped at a little cafe next to Nordstrom to get a latte, and while I was in line, a girl came up to me. She looked about twelve or so years old, and she was furious.
"You're that new girl that Shawn's been hanging out with, right?" She accused. I tucked my hair behind my ears and replied with a simple "Yes, is there a problem?"
"Stay away from him. He's mine!" She yelled and stomped out the door, her frappé or whatever typical drink she got in hand. I don't think I realized that people actually associated me with Shawn. Sure he has tweeted about me and made a Vine with me but I'm already developing enemies because of him!
Me: you won't believe what just happened
I texted Shawn and locked my phone, ordering my drink. As I was paying, my phone vibrated in my pocket.
Shawn: what??
Me: one of your little super fans just stopped me in line for coffee... she wasn't too happy with me hanging out with you haha
Shawn: she's just gonna have to get used to it.. ignore her.
I haven't even gotten used to the idea of Shawn and I together, and I don't know how his fans are going to either. I mean, I am taking away the love of their lives, who they have known for years and I am only just meeting. Maybe I should think a little bit more about where this potential relationship could go... Tween enemies isn't exactly the path I'd want to take.
I stopped at Nordstrom to buy some jewelry before driving home to do all my work for school the next day. I sat on my bed, with my back against the window, doing math homework. I don't think math is necessary, but I am actually surprisingly good at it. I couldn't seem to focus since my mind kept wandering to Shawn. My thoughts were interrupted by my phone buzzing with a new text. I grinned at the name on my screen.
Shawn: your enemy may be that girl from Starbucks today but mine is this trig packet
Me: maybe if you put more thought into your work & NOT your tweets, you'd find it easier(;
Shawn: maybe. hey, look out your window.
I turned around slowly after reading the text. Shawn's window was in view of mine, blocked partially by a giant oak tree. He was wearing a blue flannel over a gray V-neck and jeans, waving like a huge nerd. I could get used to having him so close to me all the time.
Me: shit i am gonna have to get curtains now!
I playfully texted back and awaited his response from across the lawn. He smiled at his phone and shook his head as he typed away, looking up when he was done, I assume. My phone buzzed.
Shawn: why waste the money?
I smirked at my phone, then at him. I blew him a kiss sarcastically before turning my back against the window once more, ignoring him. Moments later, there was a knock at the door. I was waiting for someone else to answer it, but I soon realized that Patrick was at tutoring and my mom was probably with him. I went downstairs and opened the door to find an aggravated Shawn.
"You are a terrible person, you know," He let himself through the doorway, accusing me. I just looked at him, waiting for him to continue. He was staring back at me with his arms crossed, tapping his foot. He was wearing his backpack, I noticed, and clearly wasn't happy.
"Please tell me more," I raised my eyebrows and replied sassily, as I often do. "I was just trying to do my homework when you rudely interrupted me."
"You're so funny," he uncrossed his arms and smiled at me now. He was kidding. "I'm not mad at you. I was just trying to get your trigonometry help." He set down his backpack in the kitchen and raided my fridge for food.
"Make yourself at home," I sighed even though he's already took that advice. I swear we sat at my kitchen table for what seemed like 2 hours while I tried to explain to him sequences. After we finally reached the last problem in the 4 page packet Shawn let out a huge sigh of relief that creep up my arm making hair stand up straight.
"Well now I think I understand what's going on in our class." He laughed.
"I know, I'm a great tutor" I admired myself jokingly tossing my hair over my shoulder.
"If we made this tutoring session a weekly thing, I bet I'd get an A in trig." He said playfully nudging my arm.
"Sure, I'll help you get an A if you pay me." I laughed.
"I'll pay you in my undying love" he laughed squeezing his muscular arms around me.
After Shawn left my house, I finished the rest of my homework in my room. I was sitting in my window seat reviewing my english vocab flashcards when the yellow snapchat notification appeared on my lock screen. I had 2 new snaps, one from Emily and one from Shawn. I sent Emily back a ugly selfie in response to her double chin pic. Shawn's snap picture was the view of my back from his window. I turned around and snapped a pic of him looking out his window with the caption "low-key stalking". I watched him grin as he opened it then take a selfie that soon appeared on my screen as well. The caption read "it's not stalking if I like it" with the wink face emoji. I replied with a pic of my window saying "brb gotta shower stop staring". He opened it, glancing up and winking at me. I rolled my eyes, threw my phone down and walked to the bathroom to get in shower. When I got out, I braided my damp hair in 2 french braids that fell down my back and put on one of my dads huge t shirts. I plugged in my phone and set my alarm before checking Twitter. I scrolled through my feed, favoriting some tweets and following back some new followers. I looked at the time at the top of my screen to see that it was already 11:10pm. I did what I did most nights and texted my friends "it's 11:11, make a wish" then I decided to send the message to Shawn as well. Right as the clocked turned to 11:11 I hit the send button in the various conversations. My friends are used to me texting this whenever I stay up and sometimes they even admit their wishes to me. Morgan always does in hopes it will still come true. My eyelids were slowly getting heavier, I was struggling to keep them up. Just then I got a text.
Shawn:
did you make your wish?
Me:
of course! did you?
Shawn:
yaa haha what did you wish for?
Me:
sorry, can't tell you, it won't come true
Shawn:
fine then I won't tell you mine
Me:
haha I'm so tired night!
Shawn:
Goodnight, sweet dreams
And with that, I let myself slip into a deep sleep.
