*A few minutes earlier*

"They do say that grief brings people together"-Emmy shrugged.
"So you also think it has brought us closer?"-Tyler asked.
"Yeah. Not even a week ago, you told me you wanted me dead, and now..."
"We've become something more"-Tyler finished, leaning closer to Emmy. As she saw the look in his eyes, she immediately knew he misunderstood the situation.
"Uh, Tyler, that's not what I..."

Tyler shut her up by kissing her. And sadly, James chose this exact moment to walk in...

"Emmy, let's go on a... what the hell?"

Emmy pushed Tyler away, slapped him and jumped up.

"James, I can explain."
"Save it"-he was about to leave.
"No, don't you dare leave me without letting me explain!"-Emmy yelled-"I can't run after you with a broken leg."
"You're lucky I'm not an asshole"-James turned back to her and crossed his arms-"I'm listening."
"Tyler and I were talking about grief and he misunderstood the situation and kissed me."
"You seemed pretty into it"-Tyler commented.
"Nobody asked you!"-Emmy hissed.
"He's right"-James agreed-"You could've just said you liked Tyler instead of leading me on."
"What are you talking about?"-Emmy shook her head in disbelief.
"Whenever I tried to ask you out, you told me you didn't want to date anyone. But I know you like bad boys like Tyler, not guys like me. And yeah, I am jealous, but the fact that you lied to me hurts even more."
"I never lied to you"-Emmy grabbed his elbow-"You were the first one I told about George, why do you think I did it?"
"You needed someone to listen, someone to save you"-James explained-"That's all I ever was to you, right?"

Emmy's face turned pale from anger.

"If you knew me, you'd know you're so much more than that! I never liked Tyler, he was my sister's boyfriend, for heaven's sake, I could never do that to her! And I rejected you to protect myself, because I don't think I can handle another heartbreak!"
"What were you protecting yourself from?"-James laughed sourly-"From the guy that saved your life and even liked you after finding out your darkest secret? You should be protecting yourself from him!-"he pointed at Tyler-"He could've killed you that night, yet you're making out with him! He doesn't deserve you, Emmy."

Emmy clenched her fist, as a tear fell down her cheek. She had so much to say, but she was speechless.

"I think it's time for me to go"-Tyler cleared his throat.
"No need for that, you can stay here and continue whatever you were doing"-James waved his hand-"I was planning on going for a while now anyway."
"James, if you walk out that door now, it's over between us"-Emmy whispered-"Don't do this to me."
"Then I guess it's over"-James stormed out and slammed the door.
"Emmy, I'm sorry"-Tyler put a hand on her shoulder.
"Don't touch me!"-Emmy shook his hand off-"This is all your fault! Just... just get out of here!"

Tyler left Emmy alone. She just stared at the door for a few minutes, as James' words echoed in her head. That's when her legs took control of her and lead her to the only person who understood her: Leah.

"I honestly thought you killed someone, but this is almost as bad"-she sighed-"I'm going to help you fix this."
"Count us in!"-the three Big Time Rush members said at the same time.
"How?"-Emmy sipped from her shake in agony.
"We'll figure something out"-Carlos reassured her-"You have the genius couple, Kendall, who can fix anything, plus me as moral support. We got this."
"But I can't let you help me all the time. James was right..."
"He didn't mean any of what he said"-Logan interrupted Emmy-"He was mad and he overreacted, just like you did. And you're going to need our help, because you're both too stubborn to take the first step in making peace."
"I'll call James"-Kendall suggested-"Just to check up on him."

Kendall barely dialed his number, it went straight to voicemail.

"That's just great. He's not going to pick up anytime soon."
"I ruined everything"-Emmy repeated-"That's the only thing I'm good at."
"That's not true!"-Leah argued-"I think you should call Mama Panya. Maybe she could cheer you up and even say something useful."
"Okay"-Emmy finished her shake-"I'll be in my room, if you need me."

Emmy went home and threw herself on her bed.

"Pick up, pick up, pick up..."-she begged.
"Emmy, finally a sign of life!"
"I'm sorry for not calling like I promised, but a lot happened"-she apologised-"I know I'm probably in trouble now, but I need my mum."
"You're not in trouble, I was just worried"-Mama Panya's voice softened-"What happened, honey?"

Emmy felt like it was necessary to leave out a few details.

"I met someone and I didn't know I liked him, until another guy kissed me right in front of him. And now he hates me."
"They say that sometimes you have to kiss the wrong person to know who the right one is. And if that guy likes you, I'm sure you will figure it out."

Although Emmy didn't believe her mother, her words somehow calmed her a little bit.

"If he's smart enough, he's not gonna waste his time on me. The girls are waiting in a line for him."
"I don't want you to talk so low about yourself again!"-Mama Panya raised her voice-"Emmy, just because you're in pain, you're not less than the others. You've been through a lot and came out strong. I'm so proud of you."

You wouldn't be proud if you knew what I did to George, Emmy wanted to answer. Instead, she thanked Mama Panya for always being there for her and hung up.

"I guess now is the time to cry to sad songs"-she reached for her earphones-"It's been a while, Eric Ethridge."

*Later at the parking lot*

"Are you sure you want to do this again?"-Leah glanced at Logan, who was confidently sitting on her Harley.
"Last time I ended up in a bush and I broke nothing. I think this time I can only do better."
"But you haven't sat on a bike since then"-Leah reminded him-"I don't want this to turn into a hospital date."
"Relax, babe"-Logan pulled her to himself and kissed her-"I'll be fine. And Harley, too."
"That's what I like to hear"-Leah nodded.

Logan put on the helmet and started the engine. Leah covered her eyes, but as she heard the sound of the motorbike driving away, she lowered her hands. Logan was going round and round in the parking lot, and Leah almost laughed of relief.

"Be careful!"-she shouted.
"Okay, but how do I stop?"
"Are you kidding me?"-Leah hit her forehead-"Logan, use the..."

She couldn't finish the sentence, because a car came driving crazily fast and Logan still couldn't stop.

"Nooooo!!!!"-Leah screamed, and in the last second, both of the vehicles pulled the break.

"Dude, what the hell?"-James got out of the car-"Why were you going round and round in the parking lot? I could've killed you."
"I was just trying to impress Leah, but failed..."-Logan lowered his eyes.
"More like gave me a heart attack"-Leah rolled her eyes-"You're not riding Harley ever again and you, James... Just drive a little bit slower."
"Got it"-the guys replied.

Leah shot another angry look at Logan, and James, seeing that, decided to give them some privacy.

"James!"-Leah stopped him-"Are you okay?"
"Why wouldn't I be?"-he raised an eyebrow-"It's not like I ruined everything between Emmy and I a few hours ago."

With that, he walked away. Logan intended on going after him, but Leah pulled him back.

"I'm really mad at you"-she scolded him.
"I know, that's why I tried to escape"-he joked, then turned serious-"I'm sorry for scaring you, I didn't mean to. I just..."
"Wanted to impress me? I know. But you impress me all the time with your silly jokes and your knowledge, you don't need to put your life on the line because of me."
"Okay, I promise I won't ride Harley again"-Logan extended his arms-"Are we good?"
"Of course we are"-Leah smiled and hugged him.
