After an eventful week in Las Vegas, the group decided to head home.
"Take care!"-Mama Panya hugged them one by one, and slapped Carlos' ass.
"I saw that!"-David furrowed his eyebrows.
"Me too, unfortunately"-Emmy covered her eyes-"Thank God we're going home, watching my mother flirt with my best friend has been painful."
"And bizarre"-Kendall added.
"You come near my wife again and I'll destroy you"-David threatened Carlos one last time.
"Got it"-the little Spanish guy nodded, almost shitting his pants.
"That's enough, David"-Mama Panya held him back.
"We should go"-Leah interrupted the fight that was about to burst-"I warmed up the Harleys, and Logan texted me that him and James will be here in a few."In that moment, James' jeep rolled into the street. Leah laughed, as she noticed Logan leaning out of the window and yelling the lyrics of Windows Down (he sounded terrible).
"I had to listen to this all the way to the petrol station and back here"-James grimaced, when the car stopped.
"Blame Mama Panya's cookies, they have this effect on me"-Logan defended himself.
"Then I'm not giving you more for the way home"-Mama Panya crossed her arms.
"Thanks, Logan"-Carlos whined.
"I'm sorry, that's not what I meant!"-Logan got on his knees in front of Mama Panya-"I'm going to die without your cookies, please don't take them away from me!"
"You're eating Leah's face all the time, isn't that enough?"-Emmy scoffed-"Mama Panya was just kidding, she's already packed two boxes for you."
"You're the best"-Carlos got emotional, then seeing David's glare, he corrected himself-"Your cookies are the best."
"I hate to be the burden, but can we go now? I have a date with Katelyn tonight and I don't wanna be late because of the traffic"-Kendall glanced at his watch.
"Get in, dude"-James patted the seat next to himself-"See you at home, girls. Try not to get into an accident."
"We won't, don't worry"-Leah reassured him-"Bye!"With that, the jeep and the two Harley Davidsons drove off, while the Stone couple waved to them uncontrollably.
"They've grown on us, haven't they?"-Mama Panya asked with tears in her eyes.
"I still can't stand Carlos"-David shrugged.
"You jealous pig!"-Mama Panya chuckled and kissed him on the cheek.About four hours later, the group arrived to Los Angeles. Not even a second after James parked the car, Kendall jumped out and hurried to get ready for his date.
"Love does make people stupid"-Emmy commented, taking her helmet off.
"Don't act like you've never been in love"-Leah gave her a meaningful look.
"I know I have. What I mean is that nobody can make me stupidly excited with a date or a romantic gesture. Maybe I'm too emotionless."
"Or you're just afraid to show your true emotions. Which is understandable after what you've been through, but showing how you feel is not a weakness, Emmy."
"Says the girl who never talks about anything"-Emmy raised an eyebrow-"You keep everything to yourself, until we force it out of you."
"I just don't want to bother people with my problems"-Leah explained-"But sooner or later, I open up. And you... you push everyone away."
"That's not true."
"Then why have you been ignoring me for a week?"They turned to James' voice. Emmy let out a frustrated breath.
"Now is not the time to talk, as you can see, Leah and I..."
"Just finished"-Leah completed the sentence-"I'll leave you two to it."
"Don't leave me alone with him!"-Emmy mouthed, but Leah left anyway.
"I've been trying to talk to you ever since our kiss"-James started-"Why won't you hear me out?"
"Because I already know what you're going to say. That kissing me was a mistake and you love Nicole"-Emmy rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, but not exact..."
"No, I don't need to hear more of that"-Emmy protested-"I got the message, okay? You kissed me in the heat of the moment, which is completely normal, considering you have a girlfriend, whom you picked up while I was in prison."
"I already apologised for that and you know that Nicole comforted me while you were away. But I never stopped caring about you, Em"-James stepped closer to her.
"Then why are you still with her? If you cared about me even a little bit, you wouldn't have cheated on me when I needed you the most. But you know what? Maybe that's how we were supposed to end. You loved me too early and I loved you too late, it would've never worked out, would it?"
"Stop this bullshit! That's not at all what I wanted to say, but you won't let me talk for one second."
"Because I don't care anymore"-Emmy stated-"I gave you millions of opportunities to get me back, even after you acted like an idiot, but you chose Nicole over and over again, even though we both know you want me. I've had enough of this, James. So fuck you and your immature ass, and don't dare to talk to me ever again!"Emmy was about to storm off, but James grabbed her arm.
"I can't apologise enough for everything. I get that you're angry, but I know you don't mean what you just said. Please, let me explain..."
"Let me go!"-Emmy shouted-"Go back to your precious Nicole and mess around with her, but not with me! I'm not yours anymore."She finally freed herself from his grip and ran up to her apartment. Leah and Logan looked up from their makeout session.
"What happened?"
"Nothing, I'm fine"-Emmy leaned against a vase, which broke the moment she touched it-"Fuck!"
"Are you sure you don't want to talk about it?"-Leah stood up with a concerned expression.
"I said I'm fine!"-Emmy hissed, slamming her bedroom door behind herself.
"They fought again, didn't they?"-Logan spoke, after Leah and him stayed alone again.
"They've been doing this ever since Emmy came back. I don't blame James for finding a rebound while Emmy was away, but he shouldn't play around with her. Look at how miserable she is."
"James told me he was going to break up with Nicole, because he realised he never stopped caring about Emmy, and that somehow, he's going to make it up to her"-Logan shared the news.
"That would be great, but Emmy told me she got tired of this whole situation. And according to how angry she was, I assume that everything that's been building up inside her, erupted"-Leah sighed-"I'm so glad we're not this complicated."
"Me too"-Logan kissed her-"I'll talk to James, see you later."
"See you!"-Leah let go of him slowly. As soon as her boyfriend disappeared, Leah placed her magic brushes and a piece of paper on the table. With her sharp eyes, she examined the painting of her mother, which was far from done, yet it looked like it was made by Picasso himself.
"Not good enough"-she shook her head-"Nothing I ever did for you was good enough. I tried, I swear I tried, but I..."
A teardrop fell on the masterpiece, but Leah couldn't care less. She was drowning in grief once again, and the more she fought to make the pain stop, the more unbearable it became. Her vision was blurry, the voices in her head became louder, reminding her of everything she's done and hasn't done, until she heard one voice clearer than the rest:
"It's going to be okay."
"Emmy?"-Leah wiped her tears.
"It's going to be okay"-she repeated-"Grief might rip you to shreds at first, hell, even later at random times when you don't expect it, but you'll survive. And I... we all will be here for you."
"I just feel helpless"-Leah whispered-"Am I selfish for wanting this pain to be over? Am I weak for not knowing how to deal with it?"
"You're none of these things, Leah"-Emmy sat down next to her-"You're the strongest person I know. Even when you were as anxious as me, you kept a smile on your face to motivate me. I couldn't have done that. But it's okay if you cry now, you're not weak, you've just been strong for too long."
"Thank you"-Leah hugged her.
"Just promise me you won't isolate yourself tonight. Maybe hang out with Logan or the guys."
"Why?"-Leah asked suspectingly-"What are you going to do?"
"As much as I'd love to watch The Harley Davidson Story with you or be your moral support, I need to go out tonight"-Emmy answered-"I feel like partying."
"Don't get drunk like last time"-Leah warned her-"You scared me."
"Again, I'm sorry. I was irresponsible, plus I needed tequila to get into the mood, so I could... you know, with George."
"Too much information"-Leah closed her eyes-"Just don't do anything stupid, okay?"
"Okay, boss"-Emmy jumped up-"Time to get ready."By the time Emmy got ready, it was pouring outside, which was rare in LA, even in September. She stood under the roof, waiting for her taxi to arrive, when Nicole appeared next to her.
"Hello, James' criminal ex-girlfriend."
"What do you want?"-Emmy clenched her fist.
"James told me what happened between you two. He said that he still cared about you and wanted to break up with me"-Nicole grinned-"But I convinced him otherwise."
"You seduced him, didn't you? That's the only thing you're good at."
"Listen to me carefully now, bitch"-Nicole lowered her voice-"If you dare to touch James ever again, you're going to regret it."
"I'm not afraid of you"-Emmy looked down on her-"I don't think I need to remind you that I got my hands dirty once. And don't worry, James is all yours, you stole him for yourself."
"Don't flatter yourself, he wouldn't have waited for you anyway. He doesn't like emotional messes, and I'm pretty sure that's what got you into jail in the first place"-Nicole pouted-"Poor little Emmy, she acts all tough, but she can't even keep a ma..."Before Nicole could finish, Emmy smashed her oh-so-perfect face. Nicole gasped, as she touched her bleeding nose.
"You fucking psycho!"
"I told you I'm not afraid of you, you pathetic bitch"-Emmy throw her hair into Nicole's face and walked to her taxi-"Have a nice evening!"
