To my sister,
Towards Okay
Darkness looms over the world,
A shadows foreboding pain and despair.
And I know, the odds of finding joy are bleak.
You've been curled up in your room for days,
Too afraid to face the world.
After your last fall,
You couldn't find the strength within yourself to rise again.
You crawled beneath your covers,
And let yourself sink.Like a stone dropped into water,
Incapable of floating,
So it sinks.
It settles on the bottom,
Of an ocean filled with the tears of every broken hearted soul.
It lays there, forgotten by the world. You said you felt like a bird,
Plucked of all it's feathers,
Left naked and flightless.
You're in pain,
Pain I've felt before.
The world is filled with ghosts,
Who possess bodies of flesh,
Walk as if they still breath.
We're all dealing with pain,
Not all of us can overcome it.
But not all of us drown in it.Your world has been shrouded by ominous clouds,
That cry neverending tears.
From the moment your sun was stolen,
You let the rain drench you,
Wash away all your colors.
Leaving a drab and gloomy world. You said you felt shattered.
You've been kneeling on the floor,
With bruised knees,
Trying to put back pieces of a broken mirror.
Your hands bleeding from a thousand cuts,
Tears streaking down your cheeks,
Your eyes darkening from several sleepless nights.
"I can fix it," you sniffle.
But the pieces don't fit together,
Not anymore.
Shattered beyond repair.
You feel your sanity slipping at the painful task.
So used to the pain,
You don't know what to do without it.Stop!
Please, stop!
Listen, just listen.
Do you hear it?
I know it's barely a whisper,
Listen closely.
It sounds. . .
It sounds like;
The fluttering of a kaleidoscope of butterflies.
The gliding of dandelion seeds being carried by the wind.
The soaring of a lone star, crossing the night's sky.
It sounds like hope.I know your mind is a labyrinth,
So many turns but only one way out,
Guarded by a monster you can never seem to defeat.
Hold my hand,
I'll guide you out.
When you're lost, I'll show you the way home.Get up!
I know your legs are wobbly,
Take my hand.
When your knees threaten to buckle,
Lean on me.
I'll be your strength when you feel weak.
I'll carry you if I have to.I know your world can seem dark,
A black hole, where light knows no escape.
I'll pull you out,
Reach for you in the middle of the heartache.
Show you my world,
Where the sun sometimes visits.I know you think this heart wrenching pain will last forever.
I know you've been gasping for air,
But something has it's grip on you,
And it keeps pulling you under.
Your drowning.
I can be your life preserver.Thoughts ravage your psyche.
Self—deprecation so severe,
It leaves scars.
Voices that make you feel like. . .
Nothing.
They tell you to forget that there's light out there.
They leave you feeling blind.Listen to me,
Open your eyes.
I'll lead an army,
If that's what it takes.
You're not alone,
It can feel like that at times.
But I promise, I'm right here,
Clutching your hand.
Okay is a long way away,
But we can walk towards it together.—R.A.E
