Chapter Fifty Seven

PEETA'S POV

I look up at Haymitch as we sit in his house. Willows at school and Katniss kicked me out of the house because I was apparently "smothering her"... Hormones are raging in that woman I tell ya.

She has been having some morning sickness but with this pregnancy it's more moods wings than that and I don't know which is worse. Haymitch giggles. "God you have a fun nine months ahead of you boy... Katniss is not a pregnant woman to mess with." "I know." I mumble, smooshing my face between my hands. He takes a swig of orange juice and then someone opens the door.

I look up and see Rye huffing and puffing holding a few loaves of bread. "Katniss wanted some raisin bread for breakfast so I made them for her." Then he hands me cheesy buns. "And these are there for when she changes her mind." I laugh and nod a thank you. Then I stand. "I guess I should be getting over there now." Haymitch waves at me slowly. "Have fun surviving."

"And may the odds-" Rye throws a dish towel around his head and pouts his lips. "Be ever in your favor!" I walk out of the house shaking my head chuckling. When I open up the door to my house I see clothes fly past me and a exasperated groan. I look over and see Kaniss, in her bra and sweatpants with a hoard of clothes on the ground. I set down the breads on the table in the kitchen and then walk back into the living room. "Honey?" She looks up at me.

"Whats wrong?" I say softly. She brushes her tears away quickly. "Nothing's wrong, I'm fine." "Katniss you're crying, there's clothing everywhere, there's something wrong." She throws her hands in the air. "Nothing fits Peeta! Not a single damn thing fits!" I put a shirt on her and take off her sweats, grabbing a pair of slacks and helping her put them on and I button them up for her.

I grab her leather jacket on its hanger and help her slip it on. Then I sit down on the couch, I pat my lap and she sits down on it. I start braiding her hair to how it normally is. Sense the years of our marriage I've been getting pretty damn good at it. After I'm finished I stand her up and let her look at herself in the mirror. I stand beside her and take her hand.

"I think you look beautiful in that, it fits perfectly." I kiss her cheek softly. "Just like the rest of them." She smiles a little and blushes. "Sorry it must be hormones." I laugh. "It's okay, you're suppose to be like this... It's apart of being pregnant." Katniss kisses my lips gently. "Thanks for making me feel better." I smile, rubbing her back. "Here I'll go pick everything up, there's bread on the table." "If it's the cinnamon raisin I don't want it I kinda want-" "Cheesy Buns, they are already there." She giggles.

"Rye and you know me so well." I sigh. "We know." I pick up her mess of clothing and bring them upstairs to be hanged up later. When I come back downstairs I see Katniss sitting on the counter chewing on a bun with a small smile on her face. I walk over to her and grab her thighs gently and smile down at her. "You know what?" She burps in my face and smirks. "What?" I rest my forehead against hers. "For one thing your burps smell like radioactive waste." She smacks my chest. But then I smile.

"And for the second... You are the most beautiful pregnant woman I've ever met." She wraps her arms around my neck. "Shut up." Then she kisses me with the biggest smile on her face. "That's true!" I look over to see Willow and Rye, her still holding her backpack with her blue eyes lighting up.

"Mommy is a really pretty pregnant lady, the ones I've seen are old, have a lot of kids, and are fat... Not like a big belly when you get pregnant or nothing they look like they have daddy's dough stuffed everywhere." Katniss busts out laughing at Willows comment and Willow covers her mouth. "Whoops, I wasn't suppose to say that was I?" I raise an eyebrow. "Well it wasn't very nice-" Katniss scoops her up and kisses her cheeks. "Oh daddy I was just having some fun." Willow says giggling and Katniss looks over at me, making a weird face.

"Yeah daddy, just some fun!" I lean against the counter as I see Willow and Katniss sit at the table chewing on cheesy buns and now looking at homework Willow has to do.

Looking at both of them smile, and seeing Katniss's hand slide absentmindedly to her belly makes me smile wider. Those are my girls, my beautiful, hilarious, lovely girls that I can't live without.
