Chapter 22: If You

Y/n POV:

   I was nervous to jump in, but my pounding heart inside me was begging me to do it. I started the count down, here we go y/n. Another potentially bad decision. I didn't get to finish when I felt Jungkook's hand interlock with mine and pull us both in.

   The water splashed up around. The brisk feel alerted my senses instantly. "Ahh, cold cold!" Jungkook shouted. "They weren't kidding." His hair was now wet from the lake. His perfectly styled hair now sat flatly on his forehead. We released hands, and he moved to wipe his bangs away from his eyes.

   Wow, he looked good. The kind of good where if you were watching a romantic comedy and they had the male lead moving in slow motion as he ran his fingers through his soaking wet hair.  And in somehow he was glowing in perfect lighting that came out of nowhere because it's the middle of the night, but still shined on only him.  Light then perfectly creates little shadows on his face to focus on his defined features?  Yea, that kind.  Ahh, stop fan girling y/n. I snapped at myself. I had a feeling I looked much less graceful lifting my head up from the water. My black hoodie that I probably should have taken off was now soaked along with the rest of my clothes. Kind of like raccoon that slipped in? Yea, that's what I'm imagining

   "Its more fun this way" I joked, eyeing a shivering Jungkook next to me. In the distance, there was a boat that we faintly heard playing 5 SOS. He splashed water at my direction at my comment.

   He bit his lip "mhmm, perfect" he said cupping water into his hands, and pouring it over my shoulder.

  I flinched swimming back, "Ahh!You'll have to catch me!" I smiled through my teeth. The water was honestly freezing, but I was in too good of a mood to care.

   Jungkook started swimming after me, "hey, get back here! I'm not done with you." He shouted, following my doggie paddle with a freestyle swim stroke. Dang, he's fast. "Gotcha!" He claimed, booping my head for victory.

   We swam around for a couple minutes, ducking from other campers that may have spotted us. We were hiding underneath the pier when we heard Jimins voice above the deck we were under. "This seems to be the end of the path, they have to be around here somewhere..." Jungkook put a finger over my mouth to signal keep quite.

   He smirked and whispered, "Watch this," before leaning taking his arms to prop himself half way onto the pier. "BOO!" He shouted, at Jimin grabbing his ankle in the process.

   "Ahh!" Jimin shrieked, seeing his friend dripping wet in the pond. "What are you doing in there? It's like 60 degrees out? Wait...Did you lose Y/n?"

   I popped out next to Jungkook by the pier, "Hello!" I giggled making my appearance.

   Now Marie was speaking up, "Y/n, you're in there too? Kid trying to get sick?" She rolled her eyes. "Sounds like a Y/n thing to do."

   I was smiling big leaning on the pier. I was having a great time, despite the lilly pads and slightly murky water, there was no place I would have rather been. Right here, at this campsite, hiding underneath the pier to scare Jimin.

   Jess bent down to see us, "Heh, I can't say I'm about to join you guys in there, you guys want to rent a paddle boat to dry off? Your cheeks are turning blue." Her comment caused me and Jungkook to face eachother and giggle.

   We made a silent agreement, I nodded, "okay, okay, we'll get out and join." We made our way through the slushy pond water by the pier. Upon exiting, our shoes were covered in mud, and the reality of the cold was hitting in. Jungkook and I both started jogging in place laughing. "I think the water was better" I joked through chattering teeth.

Jungkooks POV:

   I was a little disappointed about our swim getting cut short, but I guess the others have a point. It's probably not the best idea to get sick right after just leaving the hospital. I looked over at the dry three across from us. "We should probably get some different clothes first, can you get the boat ready and we'll be back in 10?" Jimin nodded in agreement.

   "okay, but don't take too long." He smirked and Y/n and I jogged back to the campsite to get our pajamas instead. We each went into our designated separate tents and hurried as quickly as possible. I finished first leaving me to wait outside. When Y/n emerged, her hair was still damp with from the pond. Her purple pjs were over sized but looked comfortable on her shivering body. I was staring as she was fiddling with her messy hair.

   "Ready to go?" She smiled.

   I snapped up, "what? Uh yea! Let's go" we rushed back

Jungkooks POV:

   We were able to rent a paddle boat for 6 people and we toured the lake for about 45 minutes.

   "But we're running in circles," Y/n was singing as Jimin and Marie's steering upfront took us in the same route each time.

   "Run away, run awayyy" I chimed after.
 
   She was smiling and looking carefree, but I could see Y/n getting sleepy again. Meanwhile, The other 3 were shouting about animal crossing again in the front.

   Jess was speaking, "I'm almost done with the last bridge, then my town will be next to perfect," again I drifted out of the conversation to focus on Y/n next to me. Hardly paying any attention anymore, her eyes kept closing and opening again.

   "Hey, I think our rental is almost up, I think we should start heading back." I leaned to Y/n.

   She yawned, "oh okay, that's good, I think I'm starting to fall asleep" she smoothed her hands over her mostly dry hair, it was now more wild becasue of the wind. I smiled recalling the hour before.

   Up front Jimin and Jess parked the boat and let the worker tie it back to the pier. "That was fun" claimed Marie dusting sand off of her shirt.

   "Yea, I think this is the perfect time to get some s'mores now." Jimin added excitedly.

   The three started walking at an eager pace while y/n and I were strolling behind with a more relaxing one. She looked at me tiredly but still happy, "Today, was really fun. We should do this again."

   I smiled back, "Definetely, we will go on all the adventures" I laughed.

   We made it back to our camp site where the lit fire was out. Jimin sighed looking at the fact that we hard to start a new one. "Okay, I'm going to get this one in 5 minutes tops!" He grabbed his rock, and went to try to make sparks again.

   "Maybe you'll have to save him again." I smiled towards Y/n not realizing she was already fast asleep. We had only sat down at the table by the fire pit a few minutes ago but her head is nestled in her arms. She looked so peaceful. "Never mind" I whispered to her, "You can rest instead. Goodnight Y/n. I'll see you tomorrow" I draped one of the nearby blankets around her shoulders and eyed her as she slowly breathed in and out.
