Chapter 23: Shiver

Jungkooks POV:

I laid on the hard ground above my blanket, staring at the ceiling of the tent. I can't sleep. I thought to myself trying to adjust my pillow. We put out the fire maybe around 11 o'clock, and it's around 3am right now. I'm too anxious. Maybe I just need some air. Although, being restless is kind of a signature of mine, so it's not like this is too out of the ordinary. Still, I bet I'm going to look like a zombie tomorrow though. I shuffled around some more before deciding to get up and go get water from outside.

I quietly creped out to not wake Jimin my feet crunching the leaves under the tent as I stepped. Zipping the thin tent door closed behind me, I nearly jumped out of my skin.

"Woah, why are you up?" I curiously made my way towards Y/n whose slouched figure sprawled the picnic bench. Jess and Marie had to drag her to bed around 9 after passing out and I hadn't heard from her since.

She looked started when she heard my voice like she was in deep thought. "I- I uh don't want to sleep anymore" she said nervously twiddling her thumbs. She was shrouded in a pink blanket evoloping her black over sized hoodie.

I dont want to sleep either. She sat up a little to make room for me nect to her and we both instinctively gazed towards the stars. I started to close my eyes picturing the lights in mind when she spoke up.

"Hey, Jungkook-" She held a soft and serious expression before turning to me. I met her eye contact and her eyes quickly darted away. Then she paused. I swear it looked like she wanted to tell me something important but maybe she changed her mind. "You think we'll get eaten by bears here?" She instead joked.

I blinked twice not expecting to hear her question. Once I processed, my face turned into a smirk, "Maybe if we're lucky"

Her eye brows shot up raising her voice, "wait Hold up, Hold up" she said inbetween laughs.

"Nah, I can always fight em off." I stuck my best karate pose.

Y/n giggled, "Don't worry, I'll be there with back up!" She confidently stated striking a similar pose. In turn she was pushing herself a little closer to me.

Time was ticking by and the birds were starting to chirp. We spoke until there were longer pauses inbetween our words and our eyes began to grow heavy. Once the silence went on for a few minutes, I succumbed to the rest in my eyes and watched as my eye lids darkened my vision. The brisk wind brushed against my bare arms from my T shirt. It was still dark and honestly I'm kinda cold. I felt the warmth radiating off of Y/n and her blanket and reflexively pulled it closer to me. She followed my movements and nuzzled comfortably against my chest. My mind drifted off to sleep.

Y/n's POV:

I woke up startled feeling Jess poke my shoulders. I wiggled up from Jungkook confused at why I wasn't in the tent like when I feel asleep. OH. MY. GOSH. I fell asleep on Jungkook and my sister was is literally in a tent 30 feet away. My ears burned red at the thought of her waking up to seeing us.

I squirmed up to see who poked me, while noticing Jungkook still asleep at the table next to me. He groggily retracted his arm back towards himself and used it as a pillow. Jess stared at me and whispered. "Wow, you're lucky I'm the first one up. Marie would be grilling this guy by now." My cheeks still burned as I stood up from the bench frantically. Jungkook shifted in the process but stayed asleep.

"It's just you up right? They didn't see right? It feels pretty early still, tell me their not up yet." I begged not wanting to hear the teasing that was sure to follow.

Jess smirked, "OML this kid, well It's only 7am right now, and as far as I can tell I was the first up."

I felt myself sigh in relief glancing back at the sleeping Jungkook who had goosebumps from the cold autumn wind. He moved his arms even closer to himself, "Phew, had me worried there" while speaking, I took my pink blanket and gently draped it over his shoulders.

Jess smirked, "Okay, kid, just don't make me cringe again" she patted my shoulder, "I'm going to clean up before everyone else gets up" she motioned to her bag full of soap and fresh clothes. "You coming?"

Her mentioning it, I became conscious of my unbrushed teeth and rattled hair. "Yea, right behind you." I smiled and went to gather my things. Before heading out my eyes lingered on the sleeping Jungkook that was sound across the lot. Even with bed head hes cute. Jess noticed me staring and began pulling me along.

"Y/n, remember the cringe?" she groaned

Jungkooks POV:

"Jungkook! Why are you sleeping out here? When did you get up again?" I woke up to see Jimins face hovering over mine. His soft hair hung slightly over his eyes and he still had his pjs on. My eyes quickly darted to see if Y/n was still around, but my arms were empty.

"I uh" Stuttering remembering last night, "just fell asleep here" I gulped. When did I fall asleep?

Jimin smirked towards me, "New blanket?" My eyebrows lifted back at the surprise not realizing I had Y/ns blanket on.

"I-Im" I stuttered before Marie saved me.

"Hey, what's for breakfeast?" She called emerging from the girls tent.

Y/ns POV:

We washed up in the public restrooms and headed back towards the tents. By now everyone was awake.

My stomach fluttered seeing Jungkooks arms hugging around my now folded blanket. He noticed me from a distance and waved shyly. "Morning, oh and thanks for the blanket." Jungkooks eyes followed the ground as his hands reached out to give me my blanket.

"Oh right, yea no problem." I replied carefully taking it from him. "Your shirt looked a little cold on you. " The blanket lingered with his scent and was warm from his touch. Stop fluttering so much heart. Argh, you're embarrassing me.

Marie approached us, "You and Jess are both ready? Ahh, Gimme 15 okay? Jimin just went to the bathroom, but We were talking about IHOP soon"

"Breaky!" Jungkook smiled "You know, That's my favorite word"

Marie rolled her eyes while quickly gathering her stuff, "cool, alright so 15? Y/n! You're in charge of tent take down!" She called before heading off towards the public restrooms.

"I will do my best captain!" I called out but she was too far away. I turned to Jungkook who still had bed head and his oufit on from last night.

He spoke up, "Okay Okay I promise I would help with the tent, but I can do better than this right now." He tried to flatten his hair with his hands but it kept disagreeing with gravity. "At least let me brush my teeth!" He said eagerly grabbing his drawstring bag. "Just wait! I'll be right back I promise!" He shouted before dashing off to the bathrooms.

Jess walked up behind me placing her hand on my shoulder, "You tryna race by seeing who can take down the tent faster?"

"Oh you're on!" I smirked.
