I entered the home, Harkin greeted me with a blank stare and tilted his head.
"Hey, your dad home?"
"Which one?" He stared me up and down as though weighing if I were a threat or not and I rolled my eyes at the four year old.
"You really shouldn't look at people like that." I pouted down at the child and he folded his arms over his chest.
"And why's that?"
"It makes them uncomfortable."
"Then I did good, in." He turned and I chuckled rolling my eyes before coming into the home of Gabriel and his family.
I froze in my steps as the scent so familiar to me and has been lost for so long lingered.
"Harkin?" He hummed. "Was Raphael here?" I felt my heart give a dull thump.
"Two hours ago." I bent down to stare into the little guys eyes, he scowled at me, rearing his head back because he hated being close to me.
"Did he say where he was going?"
"Why?" I grabbed him desperately.
"Please?"
"I heard something about airport." He frowned at me and looked down at my hands then back up at me. "Mates. That's weird." His nose twitched then and I stood just as his dad came down the stairs, he smiled.
"Travi-"
"I'll be back!" I yelled before bolting out the door to find the one man who has managed to avoid me for long enough.
I climbed into my car and paused, I closed my eyes then and opened the door, driving wouldn't get me there fast enough and I wasn't sure which airport he had gone to.
"What're you doing?" Gabriel asked as I inhaled Raphael's faint scent.
"Taking what could be my only chance." I spread my hands out infront of me then and thought of him, his scent, the bit I could gather flowing through me and I attempted to figure out where he was. I felt my head split into two at the strain, I brought my hands together, clenching one into a fist, the other held up two fingers and I joined them. I opened my eyes and my reality warped, for a moment I was in a home, familiar to me simply because of having spent three days and two nights within its confines.
Then I was in a car, a shadow of myself watching him drive and I smiled, the first glimpse I've had of him in what felt like decades. I reached out for him and hissed as my presence was felt, he glanced and before I caught his whole face, his expression at seeing the shell of myself, the piece of me I sent to find him I was pulled back to my reality.
"No." I gasped and looked around the driveway, Gabriel knelt before me, glaring. "No, Travis."
"What did you do!?" I smacked his hand off of me.
"You can't force your presence on people like that."
"You don't-" I got out of the car, forcing him to stand and back a way a bit, feeling frustrated and having been so close to my one chance yet so far away and having it snatched from me, "you don't know what you've done."
"Oh? You lose touch with your ex and now you try to follow him knowing he doesn't want to be followed."
I panted glaring at him.
"What?"
"I may not be clued in on all the details, but Raphael doesn't want to see you. Not now, not for a while." I looked down as Harkin took a firm stand in front of Gabriel who sighed. "Go inside, yeah?"
