Chapter 23

Mel's POV

Belle's right if Shawn really does love me then he will understand, right? I sighed and sat in my car staring at his house. I thought to my self why am I being so timid for, I've never been this way. I sucked in a deep breath and got out of the car. I walked up the walk way and up to the door. I hesitated before knocking, I waited for a minute and the door opened by his mom. She smiled at me and I smiled back

"Melanie, Hi how are you?" she asked

"I'm fine, thank you. Is Shawn here?" I asked, she nodded and let me in

I walked up the stairs to his room and the door was closed, I knocked on it and could hear the shuffling of his feet. he opened the door and when he saw me he didn't say anything just walked away from the door and went to his bed. I stood in the doorway and just stared at him

"What do you want Melanie?" he said, ever since what happened he now calls me by my full name

I sighed "I didn't come to fight, I have something to tell you and I don't know how you're going to take this" I said walking into his room and sitting on the computer chair spinning to face him. I took a deep breath and poured out everything that I had told Belle and by the time I finished telling him I was crying my eyes out. I felt a pair of arms wrap around me and held me to their chest, I inhaled and it was Shawn. I clutched onto his shirt and just cried, he lifted me up and I felt him lay me down on the bed. I curled up in a ball in his chest and cried until I fell asleep

 When I woke up, I felt around and noticed that Shawn wasn't next to me. I rolled out of the bed stretching and standing up, I walked out of the room and downstairs. When I hit the bottom of the stairs I smelled steak. I walked into the kitchen to see Shawn cooking, I sat on the stool quietly and watched him cook. He turned around and nearly jumped out his skin which made me laugh

"Hey I didn't know you were awake" he said breathing roughly 

"Sorry for scaring you, I couldn't sleep" he nodded and continued to cook

There was a long linger of silence that filled the air and for awhile I thought about what he was thinking about, it was soon broken by the sound of Shawn talking "Mel, I'm so sorry I snapped on you. You should have told me, I would've understood" he walked towards me and sat on the stool next to me, he took my hand in his "From now on, we need to promise that we will tell each other everything, no matter how bad" he said staring at me

I nodded "I promise" he smiled and pecked my lips, then I giggled "You're burning the steak" I said against his lips

He shot off the stool and took the steaks off the fire. I laughed, I love this boy and I don't know what I'd do without him

Next day
Belle's POV

Mel texted me yesterday telling me that she told Shawn everything and that he stood by her. I'm really happy they worked everything out, now all I have to do is work things out with Travis. I got out of bed and walked to the bathroom, I did my normal routine and then got dressed in my dark blue polka dot crop top with some white jeans and my dark blue converse, I put my hair in a waterfall braid and curled the ends. After I walked out of the bathroom and downstairs, Liz and Eli were sitting on the couch 

"You guys ready" I asked

They nodded and we were off to school. Once I dropped off Eli and Liz and I got to school. I walked to my locker, I got my books out of it and walked to the cafeteria. I got a bagel and walked to a bench just outside of the cafeteria, I ate my bagel and started reading my book. I felt someone sit next to me, I looked at it was Travis.

"Hey" I said sighing

"Belle, I can't keep doing this, how long do you have to pretend to be Chad's friend. I wanna go to the prom with you, but I can't if you're with him" he said growling
