Chapter 18

HOME

Gulf is sleeping peacefully in his room when someone knocks his door loudly. He goes downstairs lazily and as he opened the door, he is shocked to see Mew in front of him. He's too tired to talk so he just look at him and headed back to his room but Mew talked. 'Gulf are you avoiding me?' 'I'm too tired to talk, make yourself at home' He just said and go to his room. Mew on the other hand doesn't know what to do. Gulf looks pale. 

He followed Gulf to his room and found him sleeping, he looked at him closer and see that Gulf doesn't look okay. His face is all red. He pat Gulf's forehead and found out that Gulf has a high fever. He quickly called Run and asked him what to do as he don't have any idea how to take care a sick person. Run told him to wipe Gulf with a wet towel, let him eat something and take some medicine. 

He check Gulf's closet to look for a towel, when he found it, he then go to the bathroom and get a basin with water. He heard Gulf's soft moan so he hurriedly go back to the bed. He started wiping Gulf carefully, making sure he won't wake up. After wiping Gulf, he looked at him full of concern and care. 

After a while, he head to the kitchen and make a chicken soup for Gulf. He tried to remember all the steps taught by Gulf. While waiting for the meat to fall off of the bone, he looked around and tried to find some medicines for Gulf but he didn't find any so he asked Run to buy and send it to him. Few minutes later, Run arrived at Gulf's condo bringing medicine and some fruits. Before Run left, Mew asked him to taste the soup. Luckily, it doesn't taste bad for a first time cook. Run is amused by how Mew tried to change for Gulf. He never did any of these acts with his exes. He didn't even pay them a visit whenever they're sick. Seeing Mew's changes makes him feel happy at the same time afraid.

The moment Run left, Mew immediately prepared the food, water and medicine for Gulf and bring them upstairs. Before he entered the room, he heard Gulf talking to someone from his phone 'yes. I'm fine mi cielo, no you don't need to, it's just a fever i won't die because of this. Yes, please enough with the questions. I'm tired I want to go back to sleep. Yes, don't worry. I'll call you if I won't feel better until tomorrow. Yes. Bye.' As Gulf is about to close his eyes Mew entered the room with a tray of food in his hand. 

'eat this first!' Mew said. 'Why're you still here?' Gulf asked 'I want to stay. I've never seen you these past few days you know!' Mew responded. Gulf just roll his eye and lay on his bed again. 'Come on Gulf, eat first. I cooked this for you! you know?' Mew said while pulling Gulf's shoulder. The time Gulf heard it, he sit up and asked 'shit, what did you do to my kitchen?' 'tssk, you really is something. You're so worried about your kitchen. Here eat this' Gulf just obeyed and tried to get the spoon from Mew's hands but Mew stopped him and say 'I'll feed you' 'haysh, i can feed myself, i have hands you know?' But Mew didn't listen to him so he just obeyed him. 

After eating and taking his medicine. Gulf stand up and went to the bathroom to brush his teeth. He's brushing his teeth when Mew entered and says. 'what's wrong?' Gulf just shake his head and head back to his bed. Mew is following him silently. 'Thank you!' Gulf said while trying to lay back in the bed. Mew feels like the phrase thank you tickles his heart. 'So, would you mind telling me where were you these past few days?' Mew asked. 'I went to the US and helped Techno there, I went back yesterday but sad to say I got a fever.' Gulf answered. 'so, you're not avoiding me? I thought you left for good' Mew said 'No, why would I avoid you? and left for good? nah, that's way too impossible, this is my home' Mew is relieved to hear that from Gulf at the same time feel warm with the word home. He never had a place to call his home he only have houses basically buildings. An awkward silence occurred so Gulf decided to ask. 'How did you cook the soup?' 'Why does it taste bad?' 'no, i mean i don't know, i can't taste anything though. It's just that you don't know how to cook right? and i'm wondering how does my kitchen looks like right now' Gulf said while smiling. 

Mew doesn't know how to react by the sudden question. He don't know whether to tell Gulf the truth or not. Gulf snapped him 'hey, what are you thinking? i'm just asking you a simple question' 'ah, hhmm, well, You're kitchen is okay I guess. I'll clean it later. ahhh, I want to be honest but please don't hate me after this. When you're in the US, I was trying to change myself for you  like i'm learning how to cook and how to clean. Don't get me wrong, it's just that I like to be with you, so I shouldn't be a burden' Mew can't see clearly what's Gulf's reaction. He's getting anxious. 'Hmmm, that's good but you shouldn't change yourself because of me or someone else. Change because you know it'll make you better and to prepare yourself to survive even without those people you treasured the most' Gulf said calmly. 'wha...at do y..ou mean?' Mew asked. 'What I mean is, everything's temporary and sometimes the people we love are also temporary. So, we shouldn't rely too much to someone or else we'll end up as broken as a broken glass. If there's one great lesson I've learned in life that is being independent. You'll surely stay safe like you're in a safe zone if you're independent. Safe from any kind of pain you'll ever know' Gulf said calmly and close his eyes. Then, Mew asked, Can I stay here for tonight?' Gulf just nodded.

Mew went back to the kitchen and eat. While eating he can't help but think, what does he mean by safe zone? independent?. With that, he can't help but feel afraid, maybe Gulf will leave for good if he'll make a move on him so that he could stay inside his safe zone. Just by thought that he'll not see Gulf again he can already feel the pain. He tried to brush off all the negative thoughts. He must not worry too much about these things now, it's too early for that. He just started there's no way he'll give up this early. After eating and cleaning the kitchen. He goes back to Gulf's room. He's sleeping peacefully. Mew went to the bed as slow as he can. He must be careful not wake Gulf up.  He then whisper, 'why are you so beautiful even when sleeping? what's with you? why do i feel like i have to change myself to become better for you? why do i have this feeling that you're the only one i want to be with? I want to take care of you. I want to spend every time I have with you. Will you go out from your safe zone if I say so? Or you'll avoid me? Will you give me a chance to be happy with you? or you'll disappear and won't see me again. Please don't avoid nor leave me. Please don't. It's too early to be hurt so bad. I'm just starting to do my best just to be with you and be better for you.  Let me stay with you please.' Saying those while looking at Gulf's face. He then touched Gulf's lips and say 'I'm sorry If I'll do this. But I can't stop myself. The more I stop myself the more I wanted to get close to you. Promise, I'll do my best not to do this again' After that, he kissed Gulf's lips. 'Please stay with me for a long time, You may not be aware of this but with you I feel home. It might be unbelievable but it's the first time I feel this. I need you to stay. So please stay.' He said once again, lay beside Gulf and close his eyes. 

On the other side, Gulf is just lying on his bed with his eyes closed. When Mew entered the room, he thought he would sleep directly. However, he heard those sentences and questions. He continue pretending that he's sleeping. He doesn't want to embarrass Mew nor to stop him. He's just listening and his heart is beating so fast again. Specially, the moment when he can feel the sincerity of Mew's voice. Is this really Mew? Is he really falling for me? He kept asking those questions to his self when he felt Mew's lips close to him. Mew just kissed him! He supposedly stop him but he didn't and he himself can't understand why he let Mew kiss him. 

Gulf can't react. How the hell Mew feels home with him. 

'Shit, what should I do after this? Should I avoid you? or just stay with you and act like nothing happened? hayssh, this is way more difficult than taking an exam'
