#38 Ubbe: Saving You

Okay, already in advance sorry for the crappy ending, but I hope you enjoy it! I just finished the last episode of season 6 and honestly I have so many questions

*flashback*

YOUR POV (8 years old)

"All hail to king Ubbe" we all chant. Then we take a bow.
"now it's my turn" I say and stand up.
"You can't be the leader!" Ivar says.
"and why not?" I ask
"because... Because you're a girl" he says.
Then Ubbe stands next to me. "Ivar that's not a reason and you know it, Y/N can be as much as a leader as I can" Ubbe says.
I smile and take a seat at our made up throne.
"All hail to queen Y/N" they say. Ubbe bows and gives me a wink.
"Kids dinner!" Lagertha chants.
And we all run inside

*present*

YOUR POV

"okay, we can all agree that that is our plan?" Björn says. We all nod.
"Then it is settled my dear brothers and ofcourse our sweet Y/N" Björn says and he raises his glass. "Skol!" he says.
"skol" we chant.
"Get a good night rest, because tomorrow we attack!" Björn says and then leaves.
Ubbe walks over to me and takes a seat.
"ready for tomorrow?" he ask and gives me a kiss om my lips.
I close my eyes and try to take in this moment.
"yes, always right?" I say and wink at him.
"yes, you're one of our best shield ever" he says and smiles.
I roll my eyes and smile.
"Let's go to bed okay" Ubbe says and takes my hand.
We say our good nights and fall asleep in eachothers arms.

The next morning we wake up early, grab our stuff and leave to attack King Olaf.
We quietly make our way over to the village. Everybody is sound asleep and won't expect our attack.
"it's so quiet" Ubbe says, enthusiastic.
"Too quiet" Ivar says, always suspicious.
I look around and get suspicious too.
"hold up guys, I thin Ivar is right" I say.
"Thank you Y/N" Ivar says and takes a little bow.
"As always I am right and-"
"Shut up Ivar" Björn says.
"I hear something" He says.
We all look around, holding our breaths.
"I hear something too" Ubbe whispers.
Suddenly arrows are flying through the air towards us.
"it's an ambush!" I yell.
"Shield wall" Björn screams.
We all put our shield together and for a wall to protect us.
"How could they know we were coming?" Ubbe screams.
"There are too many of them" I scream.
"We can't pull back" Ivar yells.

Suddenly we hear king Olaf's loud voice coming out of the crowd.
"Stop them, but don't kill them" King Olaf yells. "they are mine" he says.
We get caught by guards of king Olaf and get thrown in a cell.
"And now what?" Ubbe ask in frustration.
He slams his fists against the closed doors and hurts himself.
"Ubbe stop it" Björn says.
"Björn don't you realize that we are kind of in a difficult situation right now?" Ubbe says.
Björn nods. "Yes I do, but slamming a door is not going to help us" Björn says.
"We need to focus" he says.
"Olaf is not going to let us get away with this" Björn says.
Ivar shakes his head.
"No, he's going to punish us" Ivar says.

Then the guards come to our cell. They open the door and look at us. We look back at them, waiting for what's going to happen.
They walk towards me and grab me by my arms.
I'm not letting them take me away that easy and I start to struggle.
"let her go!" I hear Ubbe say.
"King Olaf wants to see the girl"the guard says.
The guards take me away and slam the door shut behind me.
" Let's go, Olaf wants to see you" A guard says and pushes me towards the dining hall.

Then they push me to the ground so I have to kneel in front of king Olaf.
"look at me when I talk to you child" Olaf says.
I open my eyes slowly and look Olaf straight into his eyes.
"you know what you did right?" he ask.
I just look at him, not answering the question.
"Speak!" Olaf shouts.
"yes I do" I say calmly, not really impressed with Olaf.
"you have to be punished for your actions, attacking my village, trying to kill me. That's outrageous!" He says and gets angry.
"we did not try to kill you and why do I get punished and the rest isn't?" I say
Olaf looks at me and ignores my question.
He stops walking and then turns towards me.
"you shall be executed in the morning" he says.
"Excecuted?!" I shout.
"Yes and your friends need to watch" he says.

I can't believe what I'm hearing. Executed? Thats not how I wanted to go. I wanted to die in battle, fighting side by side with Ubbe, whom I love very much.
Not executed and the worst part is... They need to watch me die.
The guards bring me back to what I thought was my cell, but no they lock me up somewhere else so I can't tell the guys what is going to happen.
"we don't want them to try and safe you" a guard says and slams the door behind me and I am left behind with my thoughts.

The next morning I wake up and sigh. The guys must be a little concerned since I didn't return from Olaf as far as they know.
I sigh and stare at the wall. This will be my last day, I mean I don't mind dying but not like this. Not while Ubbe has to watch.
The door opens and the guards are back. They toss in some bread and close the door again.
I crawl over to the bread and eat it, but I can hardly eat anything.

Hours pass by and I hear a crowd forming just right outside.
Suddenly the door opens again and the guards walk in.
"it's time" they say. My hearts starts beating faster. This is it, my last moments.
We step outside, but I see no sign of Ubbe, Ivar and Björn.
"oh thank the gods" I whisper to myself. "What?" a guards says. "oh nothing" and I shake my head.
Thank God Ubbe doesn't have to see me die.
We walk a little further and I see how they planned to kill me.
They are going to burn me alive.
We walk over to the stage and they strap me to the pole.
I sigh, the nerves are getting to me.
"Ladies and gentlemen" Olaf speaks.
"This intruder, tried to attack us and kill us last night, together with her army. She must be punished in an correct way" he says.
The crowd starts cheering.
"this is wrong" I shout, but a guards punches me in my stomach.
"light the fire" Olaf says.
The guards come closer with their torch and ignite the fire.
I close my eyes and start praying to the gods.
"Bring the other prisoners" Olaf shouts.
The other prisoners? Oh no.... Oh no.
Then I see Ivar, Björn and Ubbe walking outside. They look at me and I can see the fear in their eyes.
Smoke is entering my nose and I'm start g to panic.

UBBE'S POV

We walk outside and see Y/N strapped to a pole and a fire that has started under her feet.
"she will burn to death" Ivar whispers to me.
"we need to do something" I say.
"what can we do?" Björn ask. "we have no weapons and there are too many people to fight our way over. She will be dead when we finally reach her" Björn says.
"well the weapon part is not entirely true" Ivar says and smirks.
"How can you smile brother while Y/N is going to die" I say and starts to panic a little.
"Well Ubbe you see in order for me to walk I need a walking stick, but little do they know that my walking stick is also a weapon" Ivar says and points at the end of the stick.
"That's brilliant Ivar" I say. "but what's the plan?" I ask.
Ivar nods "follow my instructions and everything should work out just fine" he says.
Björn and I nod.
We look at Y/N and the flames are starting to get closer to her. She's praying to the gods. I know that face too well.
"Ubbe when I say now you run over to Y/N understand?" Ivar says. I nod.
Ivar looks at the guards and back at his walking stick and he quickly grabs a little sword out of his cane.
He looks at Y/N and the pole she is strapped to and suddenly he throws his weapon into Y/N's direction. The swords hits the rope and Y/N is free. She falls forward into the water. "Now!" Ivar says.
I start to run, slamming people off me and I jump into the water.
Y/N's body had just gone a little underwater but I quickly grab her and pull her to the surface.
"you're okay" I whisper in her ear.
"you're okay" I say.
Nobody in the crowd is reacting to us, not even king Olaf.
They all just stand and stare.
"How... How did you-" Olaf gets interrupted by Ivar.
"You need. To have a plan" Ivar says and he slowly walks away.
"Let's get you out of the water shall we?" I say and take Y/N out of the water, I lay her on the ground and give her some space. She's laying in my arms when she suddenly slowly opens her eyes.
"hey" I whisper to her. "hey" she whispers back.
"you're okay" I say and kiss her on the lips.
"I'm okay" she says and smiles.
