CHAPTER TWELVE:
EXPLANATIONTHE STAR SIBLINGS SAT in the living room of the Cullen home. Estella was sitting on the floor with her sketch book placed on the table, a pencil placed between her fingers as she drew. Luna was sitting on the couch with her legs outstretched and her laptop in her lap as she typed up an essay for college. She had decided instead of having to actually go to the University of Washington that she would just take online classes. Because apparently you could do that now and Estella had no idea.
They were sat in silence, the only sound that could be heard was Estella's pencil making lines on the white paper and Luna's fingers tapping gently against the keyboard. Usually the two girls didn't enjoy silence, but this was a comfortable one, one that they both needed at the moment. Estella was thinking over the conversation she had with Alice as she drew in her sketchbook, a far off look in her eyes but no one would notice due to the perfect lines she was drawing on the white paper. Luna was thinking about how stupid her teacher was for making her write a two thousand word essay on why science was important. Obviously the teacher and every other student knew why, but the teacher was a hardass and liked to give them essays left and right. Luna was close to dropping out. Actually, she almost did had Jasper not convinced her otherwise.
The others were doing who knows what. Bella, Edward, and Renesmee were probably in their house, Carlisle was probably still at work, as for the others, the Star siblings assumed they had all went hunting. Estella was biting on her lip and Luna noticed that it looked like the girl wanted to ask her something. Luna paused in writing her essay and cocked an eyebrow at her little sister.
"You look like you want to ask me something." Luna spoke up, startling the younger Star and making her bite so hard on her lip she was sure if she was still human she would be bleeding. Estella turned her head slightly to look at her sister.
"It's nothing," Estella shook her head. Luna looked at her for a moment before nodding her head and looking back towards her laptop. Estella huffed, knowing Luna did that to get it out of her. She always did that. "Fine." Estella groaned. Luna smirked before looking up at her. Luna placed her laptop on the table and curled her legs so that Estella could sit on the couch.
"What's up?"
"Uhm. . . can you. . . can you explain the mate bond again? Alice explained it but I was being a little hotheaded and rude so I don't think she finished. . ." Estella hesitantly asked. Luna furrowed her eyebrows as she frowned.
"I thought you were going to ignore the bond. I thought you said it was bullshit." Luna spoke. Estella sighed and narrowed her eyes at her sister.
"Please, Luna?"
"Alright." Luna nodded before sitting up and looking at Estella who was staring down at her drawing, patiently waiting for Luna to start speaking. "The mate bond is something all vampires are thrown into whenever they find their significant other. The person they're supposed to be with from now until forever. Once you meet that certain person, everything involves them. They plague your every thought, your every concern goes towards that person. Everything you do, it's based around your mate. You feel an immense amount of love towards them, you want to be beside them at all times. There's this pull that forms and it's a hard one to ignore. You can try to ignore it, but you'll only be hurting yourself and that other person. Trust me, I know how that one feels. If you ignore it too long, it could be too late and your bond could be lost forever and you'll just be without a mate."
"So, basically, if I ignore Alice for too long I could be alone forever." Estella piped up, turning her head to look at Luna. The blonde frowned.
"I mean. . . I guess? You can try to be with others, but it will never feel the same. You'll never find someone else." Luna paused as she bit the inside of her cheek. "If I may, why exactly are you ignoring Alice?"
Estella looked at her sister, slightly surprised by the question. Why exactly was she ignoring Alice? Well, technically she was friends with her. That didn't mean she wasn't ignoring her though. Estella sighed as she shrugged her shoulders. "Honestly? I'm not really sure. It's like whenever I get close to her I'm scared for some unknown reason. I'm terrified to feel anything for her. Is there something wrong with me?"
Luna chuckled softly as she shook her head. "There's nothing wrong with you, Stella. I think what it is, is that you're just scared to get close to someone. Especially romantically. After what happened with mom, dad, me, I think you're scared because you think she's going to leave. You have the same problem I did when I first moved here."
Estella frowned slightly. "You had that problem?"
Luna nodded her head. "Stell, I was a mess after the accident. I was for several several months. I couldn't drive or get in a car without having a panic attack. I didn't want to make any friends at all when I first moved here. Jasper changed that. He made me feel so. . . so safe, and loved. He made me feel the happiest I had been in months. It was relief. And I finally took the stress of trying to avoid the bond off my shoulders, and it felt amazing."
"Yeah, but he left you." Estella pointed out. Luna bit her lip at the mention of him leaving, that was still a sore topic.
"He did. And when he came back, I was mad. And so heart broken. I ignored him for a month. And it was the most painful and exhausting month of my life. Even when he was gone, I hadn't felt that exhausted. I was trying to ignore the bond, and I was hurting both of us. It's one of the things I regret most, just like I know him leaving me is one of his biggest regrets. He came back, and he loves me more than anyone ever has." Luna smiled at her own words. "I know it seems like I'm repeating the same thing over and over to you, but I just want to put it in your head that the mate bond isn't a bad thing. It's an amazing thing actually. It's one of the best things that's ever happened to me, and I could never be more grateful. Does that answer your question?"
Estella looked at her and softly smiled before nodding her head. "Yeah, it does."

Sorry I haven't updated in a few days. Motivation has not been kind to me for the past few days. So, this is sorta a filler chapter, but I really like it.@HAHA_LIFEISTOUGH
