CHAPTER THIRTEEN:
WOULD YOU HAVE STAYED?

"I HEARD LUNA MADE you sign up for online school." Alice piped up as she entered the living room where Estella seemed to be spending most of her time as of late. Estella looked up from the computer to glance at the brunette as she huffed.

"Yep, she did. Luckily, I only have one more year left of high school. Then I get my diploma, and then my sister gets off my back." Estella said, finally closing the laptop after looking at it for eight hours straight. She placed the laptop on the table and rubbed her eyes as Alice sat down beside her on the couch. Estella turned her head to look at Alice, offering the pixie a lazy smile. Alice offered her a genuine one back. She was happy due to the fact that not only was Estella talking to her, but she was smiling at her as well.

"Hey, Estella?" Alice questioned. Estella opened her eyes that had been closed and cocked a perfect eyebrow as she hummed in response. Estella's dark red eyes met Alice's bright golden ones and Alice stood up before holding out her hands. "Come on, you need to feed."

"Was that supposed to be the question?" Estella asked with an amused laugh. Alice playfully rolled her eyes at the girl as Estella let out another laugh that sounded like music to Alice. Estella grabbed onto Alice's hands, allowing the pixie girl to pull her up.

"I'll ask the question later." Alice responded, relishing in the feeling of Estella's hands being in her own. "Now, come on." Alice took one of Estella's hands before dragging her out of the home. The two girls walked deep into the woods before they stopped.

"We really should not be alone in the woods together." Estella mumbled as her eyes scanned the trees, not even taking note of the fact that she had said her thoughts out loud. Alice looked at the blonde and furrowed her eyebrows, cocking her head to the side.

"Why not?" Alice quizzed.

Estella jumped in surprise. "What?"

"You just said we shouldn't be alone in the woods together."

"Mm, no I didn't." Estella quickly denied.

"Yes you-"

"Right, so, I need to hunt." Estella quickly interrupted her, not wanting to continue the conversation. Instead of moving, however, Estella stayed in her spot. Alice watched the girl with curiosity, taking note of how she looked like she was having a mental debate with herself. Estella was in fact having a mental debate with herself. It was a debate she didn't really want to have and was trying to put off.

"Did you forget how. . . or?" Alice quizzed, taking a step closer to the blonde. Estella turned and opened her mouth to speak only for her to cut herself off when she noticed how close the pixie girl was to her. If her heart was still beating, it would be beating rapidly at that moment. Estella swallowed and quickly cleared her throat before turning away. Estella closed her eyes before opening them again.

"I haven't been that many times. . ." Estella trailed off. That wasn't a lie, the girl had only went three times. But she remembered how to hunt, she just couldn't help herself anymore. She liked Alice's voice and the chance of the pixie being close to her was a very appealing thought that she was trying so hard to ignore, but was very clearly failing.

"It's simple really." Alice told her, smiling kindly at the blonde. She took a step closer and placed her hands on Estella's arms. She had to bite back the biggest smile from forming on her face due to the skin to skin contact whilst Estella had to force herself not to think about it. "Just close you eyes and focus on your surroundings." Estella did as told. She closed her eyes and listened, searching for a specific sound but the only thing she could hear was Alice's calming breaths from beside her. "When you hear the sound of a deer, or any other animal, you go for it. But you have to be sly about it."

"Right. Got it." Estella nodded, swallowing thickly. She closed her eyes again and focused on her surroundings, then she heard it. Her eyes sprung open and she shot off. She narrowed her eyes at the mountain lion before quickly taking her chance and pouncing on it. She wrestled with the animal before finally pinning it down and sinking her teeth into its neck. She drained the animal of its blood before pulling away and wiping her mouth.

"That still doesn't taste good." Estella mumbled, her nose scrunching up. Alice who had taken a deer not too far away from Estella appeared behind her with that same kind smile that Estella found herself wanting to see more and more of.

"Overtime you get used to the taste. I've only ever known animal blood. I've never killed for human blood, so I know it must be much harder for you." Alice explained. Estella nodded her head in agreement before shrugging her shoulders.

"I've only killed three or four people. Nothing too serious, so hopefully the taste will be much more easier to handle in the next few weeks or so." Estella said as she stood up from her kneeling position.

"If it weren't for Luna, would you have stayed?" Alice suddenly asked. Estella furrowed her eyebrows as she turned to face the pixie girl. Alice hopped down from the small hill she had been standing on so that she could stand in front of Estella.

"Well, that was sudden." Estella mused.

"Hey, I told you I'd ask my question later and now is later." Alice nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders. "So. . . if it weren't for Luna, would you have stayed?"

"I. . ." Estella was caught off guard by the question. She stood there and her eyebrows furrowed as she thought about the question. She bit her lip before her eyes moved up to look at Alice's. "Honestly, Alice, I don't know. Maybe. I guess it would just depend on my headspace at the time. Why do you ask?"

The two started to make their way back to the home as Alice shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know. I was just curious I guess." She offered Estella a small smile. Estella gave her one back before they entered the home once more. Estella walked up the steps and found Jasper's bedroom. She knocked on the door and waited before Luna opened the door.

"Hey sis, what's up?" The blonde asked with her usual soft smile.

"Can I, uh, can I talk to you?" Estella asked, pulling her lip between her bottom teeth. Luna's eyebrows furrowed as she nodded her head.

"Yeah, sure." Luna turned her head to look at Jasper who was laying on the bed Luna had forced them to get a few months prior. "I'll be back." She told him before walking out of the room and following after her sister. They entered Luna's room that was separate from Jasper's. Luna closed the door behind her as Estella sat on the bed.

"Can you. . ."

"Already have." Luna said. She walked up to her sister with worry coating her features. "Stell, what's wrong?"

Estella looked at Luna and shook her head. "Nothing's wrong. I just. . ." She sighed as she ran a hand through her hair. "I think I'm falling for Alice."
