After all of that, Ken and I spend a lots pf months together. Until our relationship turn into a year, we spend times like there's no tomorrow, we share memories like where going to lose it all. I agreed to perform his surgery after our 1-year celebration of our relationship. That day was today, and my friends set a party in the penthouse, Ken's family is coming over and I understand that my parents don't. Heiley thought of the brightest idea of all, she turns the party into a grand ball party, so girls wear gowns while boys where suits.
Heiley made me wear a red off shoulder lace appliques cathedral gown and tied my hair inti a fancy Bohemian bun. I didn't know how Heiley set this up but when she let me walk down the stairs, Ken wearing a dark green suit that is near to the color of black is waiting for me below. I walk towards him and he asks for my hand. I place my hand on his and he escorted me to be at the center.
"You're beautiful as a rose" He complimented me with a kiss on the hand. Charming I see, "You look like a stem" I mock around and laughs at him
"Pardon?"
"A dance? sure I love to" I changed the topic, and he started to hold waist as I hold his shoulders. The music starts and we began to the waltz, step, step and up. The rhythm repeats thrice, and he make me turn. Dancing with him makes me feel so comfortable, we paused and look into each other's eyes. Just a little closer and our lips will touch, but that doesn't matter, he's here standing right in front me is enough. I hold his cheeks smiles sadly, I hold his hand and placed it on mine
"A beat that says I love you" I whisper
He also so placed my hand into his heart even though I can feel the beat so weak. "A beat that says I love you too" He smiled
Everyone claps, and I looked around with a smile on my face. While the party was on going, I stayed in my room with a bottle of beer on my hand. I remembered how Ken shake his head when I asked him to promise me. I took a sip on the bottle and looked at the Polaroids of Ken and I, I took more sip as I couldn't accept if he dies.
"Just take mw instead... " I begged as I look up on the ceiling, holding back my tears.
Someone came in without knocking and then I saw Ken holding a tiny box as he gets in and sit beside me. "Why are drinking that bottle of beer?" He asks
"I just don't know what to do if I lose you" I replied sadly
"Well let's change the topic. I have something for you" He showed me a little box and gave it to me
"What's this?" I ask. I started to open the box and saw a necklace with a small human heart pendant with the color of rose gold. I was stunned by its simple beauty. I gently hold it and raised it. "It’s beautiful" I beamed at him and helped me wear it. I grab a small mirror from my desk and take a look on the necklace. It’s really beautiful.
"I also have something for you..." I said as I gave him the platinum card, he was speechless and looked at me in a surprise. "To reject is an insult, please accept that" I added
"Rose, this is like cost too much!"
"It’s enough for your surgery" I beamed. "Tomorrow you'll stay at the hospital for observation and after 3 days, surgery will begin" I informed him
"Rose... remembered how we first met?" He asks, obviously changing the topic. "I thought it was a dream at first, but when you talked to me, I realized I wasn't dreaming at all. And then I had road trip with you... how amazing" He smiled as he looked up "This was only thing I ever wanted to happen in my life, and now I'm actually living in this life already" The way he smiles is like his time is ending right here. I suddenly hugged him as tight as I could, like I'm gonna lose him.
"Please stay... please" I beg him harder and never let go of him. I felt his hand on my back then he kissed me on the cheeks for a short time. "I want to..." He whispered into my ears and then...
"KEN!" I woke up and I'm in my room where I was in my dream. I saw a bottle of beer on the corner, so I wasn't dreaming at all. I felt I was about to puke so I rushed and vomited on the bathroom. Perhaps I drink too much last night, I take an energy drink to make me feel better since I really need to work today since its Ken's first day in the hospital. I texted him (where are you) and he replied (just woke up in the apartment). I dressed up for work and this day seems nothing weird and totally normal. I drive my way to the hospital and as always, staffs greeted me a good morning. I walk towards my office and worked for Kenji's file. I heard a voice call from him, so I answered.
"Hey Ken, where are you?" I ask
-In a taxi with my mother, on our way to the hospital
"Why didn't you call me to fetch you then" I ask while reading and working on his file
-Nah, I know you're working. I didn't want to bother
"You're not bothering me" I replied
-Am I right now?
"Still a no cotton head" I tease him
-Seriously Doctor?
- Love you Rose
"I know you do" I chuckle and leave the phone for a while as I was about to grab my book of Cardiology. When I came back and sit on my chair, I grab my phone and "Ken? still there?" I ask
"Kenji?" I called his name, but no one is answering but a static effect, so I just hang up the call because maybe there's no signal.
