Irene's team were surprised for my sudden appearance, they all froze in surprise but i continued to walk towards the patient and keep the order.
"What are you f*cking standing right there? GET THE DEFIBRILLATOR!" I shouted at them and that's when they make the move. When on the doctors attached the defibrillator to the patient's heart I day "20 joules charge!" I looked at the ECG monitor and the its still on flatline. "50 joules charge! " I shouted but its still isn't working, I glance at the window door and saw the kid extremely crying. "again" I said but they all looked at me in a worry so I stared at them "CHARGE!" as soon I hoarse and after the heart was charged, it started beating and all of us sighed in a relief. Few procedures that took me 30 minutes to finish all of it and bend our hands up as we finished the surgery and delivered the patient to the ICU.
I am the first one who walk out from the operating room and take of the surgical gear and fixes myself. I rushed to go outside since what I did back there was against the rule and they would probably send me to a disciplinary meeting and take my license. As I walk outside, I saw the kid staring right at me with an unbelievable looking, I smiled at her and run my way back to the faculty. I entered and their eyes are all on me and I cringe since it looks creepy "Guys, we need to go" I ordered them then I rushed outside.
They all followed my lead but then someone pulled my hand that made me face to its direction. It's Irene and I know she isn't happy for what I did back there. She suddenly slap me hard that made me face to the other direction. I clench my teeth and looked at hysterically
"Who do you think you are interrupting my team's surgery?" She said angrily, time by time her grip on my arm is getting tighter. I shove my arm that made her let go of it.
"You should be thanking me for saving your patient!" I aver
"Oh wait... You just did that so you'll take all the credits of saving the ambassador or... you're doing it for fame" She crossed her arms and raise an eyebrow at me. I couldn't help myself for getting angry so I pushed her hard that made her fall on the ground and hit her elbow hard. She screamed on pain and I can she's about to cry. "Remember this Irene. If I wasn't there, the ambassador could've die and our hospital will be accuse and shut it down. I am not a doctor for fame, I'm not like you" I said softly and slowly for her to understand.
"Rose...let's go... " Ken hold my shoulders and forced me to look away from that b*tch and walk out from this hospital. We ride into our car but then I'm not yet starting the engine.
"Rose, why aren't you driving?" Amy asks
"Amy do you have a license?" I answered her in a question as I am not in the mood to drive the car. "Yes" She replied. We switch places and she's the one riding my car as I was thinking so deep.
Fast Forward
Three weeks after the surgery, we stayed in a small apartment in New York for a while since we've been roaming around this city full with dreams. Well...like everyone expecting, Ken and I became official couples and we've spend a lot of time together like right now.
He's playing video games with Lukas and I came from the kitchen holding a bowl of popcorns. He seems really focused on that video game so I walk towards him and annoys him. I tried crawling between his arms and inserted my whole body in the middle then snuggles into his shoulders while sitting on his lap. I laid my head on his shoulder hugs him with my hands are on his back. Our chest are close to each other but there's one thing I ever notice, the longer we know each other, his heartbeat is getting weaker.
"Your heart is weak... why? " I whisper at him and he paused the video game. He let me move away from and let me sit beside him on the sofa. He kept on smiling even though he's hiding something from me that I don't know.
"You just misheard it, don't let it bother you. I'm fine" He replied as he continued to play his game. I grab his controller and paused the game "Ken, I notice this since we met! You're getting pale and your heartbeat is getting weak. There's something wrong!" I fended and then suddenly someone knocked on the door. "I'll go check it out"
I step towards the door and opens it, and unfamiliar face I see and I have no idea who is he. Wearing a formal suit with this bodyguards on his side-
"Wait- are you...?"
"Ambassador Dean. I'm looking for Rose Diaz" He cut off my sentence
"That's me" I answered with a doubt
"I need to have a word with you Ms. Diaz" He said. I looked inside to see if it is messy but its clean so I let him entered the house "Please so come in" I said. He came inside the room leaving his bodyguard outside the door and we sat on the dining room. I sit beside him as he told me so and he hold me shoulders and tap it.
"You did a great job. You saved me from death" He smiled at me "I wanted to thank you for what you did, my daughter told me that she begged you for the surgery and so you did"
"I just wanted every patient I see, ends up living and happy" I replied with sniff
"You impress me young girl, you deserve to be awarded for your kindness and those talented hands of yours"
"I saw how you performed my surgery and I was shocked that you have a very fast yet gentle hands" He added
He left right after having a word with me and gave me a platinum card from the bank for thanksgiving. I don't want to accept it but he said 'to reject is an insult so I have no choice to accept this large amount of money inside this card.
