It is late night after receiving the call from my mom, so I decided to go home. I haven’t talk to Doctor Khan and Amy, they didn’t show up even I went to the front desk and paging for their names repeatedly. They must be very upset, but I have to do something to make it up to them. I arrived home and it’s all dark inside the penthouse, I turned on the lights heard a bark from below. its Darling who greeted me, I pat his head and proceed inside the penthouse. I placed my handbag on the counter table and walk towards the sofa and rested my body. I look up at the ceiling and watch at the Nordic chandelier light up the whole room. Then I heard footsteps from the stairs and when I glance all the way there, I saw Heiley.
“Rose, you’re home” She greeted and walk towards me
I look at her with a smile on my face, even though I had a rough day today. She sits next to me and lay her head on my shoulders. “How’s the surgery?” She asks
“We didn’t make it” I replied her in a soft tone and look down with a sigh
She looks up at me and clings on my arm “That’s okay, we fail sometimes and that’s how we learn”
She suddenly sits up straight and reach out for my hand “At least the patient lives”
I smiled as I glimpse at her, I stand up and tell her that I’ll go for a bath and then she went back to her room. After, I walk inside my room and grab my laptop, I search for tourist spots for our trip to Ney York tomorrow and I am going to surprise my team that we are going to New York for a road trip. I want to make up to them by making them happy, and maybe I am inviting Ken as well, besides, he mentioned that he never gone into a road trips and traveling stuffs, so perhaps I will let him experience. My phone suddenly rings and received a message from Ken. (10 unread messages)
“Sh*t” I curse and quickly unlocked my phone and read his messages (-hi -are you busy? -how’s the surgery? -did you guys made it? -you must be busy, take your time though -hello? -hello? -are you okay? -Why aren’t you answering? -…)
“Sheesh” I whisper then I typed for a message (Let’s talk tomorrow, meet me at your coffee shop at 10 a.m.) Then I turned off my phone and my laptop and went to sleep.
Early in the morning, I did my daily routine before meeting Ken at the coffee shop. I have nothing to worry about the restaurant since my mom ordered Henderson to manage the whole restaurant and will be left at the penthouse. I’m now preparing myself for later, I choose a dress from my wardrobe which is an A-line pastel pink dress that has a hug shoulder collar and an elbow bishop sleeves. I match it up with my pastel pink Gucci purse and head straight to my car, I left Heiley at the penthouse to pack our stuffs and borrow Hendy's other car for our road trip. I drive all the way to the coffee shop, and entered as soon as possible, I saw him waiting by the counter table, so I approach and sit right next to him.
"Hey" I greeted, he looks at me and he was left open-mouthed and stared at me for a long time. I chuckle since its getting cute but weird, I snap my fingers at him, and he startle and blink his eyes a lot and scratches his head
"Are you okay?" I ask
"Yeah, well *clears throat*. How's the surgery?" He asks
"We didn't made it... but we saved the patient" I answer him without frowning and that's the good thing about moving in easily.
He looks side by side before he moves his forward to me and ask, "Why are you so dressed today?"
"Good thing you ask!" I say with glee and pointed him
"You mentioned that you haven't gone into a road trip before, so maybe if I ask you to come with me, I would be happy if you agree" I beam at him and he's looking at me surprisingly
"Your joking" He slowly chuckles
I shake my head and that freak him out, he hold his head with both of his hands and suddenly stand up. He wobbles around and I let him take his time to think about it. "If you don't want to, it's actually fine with me-"
"I love to but, I haven't ask permission from my family" He interrupted
"Uhm... I know it surprised you but, I really did it on purpose to surprise you of course" I chuckle slowly
"How long?" He asks
"Not sure, New York is 2 days away from here but there are tourist spots that we are visiting before we arrive in New York" I stand up as I explained it to him.
I can say he is hesitating, and I don't know why I felt so sad of he couldn't come. I come up with the brightest idea, so I grab his arm and then he looked at me. "I'll ask your mother and convince her, how's that?" I ask him with a very convincing face to make him say
"Well yeah but, I rather talk to them" He answered
"Come along then!" I hop in glee and pulled him out of the coffee shop
I walk across my car and take the driver's seat. Ken is just standing right there and didn't even take the passenger's seat, I tilted my head and ask him "What's wrong?". He shakes his head and ride into my car, I drive all the way into his house as he told me where the directions are. I notice that he was a bit antsy so I'm wondering why. He told me stop into a simple apartment which is really cozy. He gets off from the car and went inside, we climb up stairs and there are a lot of neighbors staring at me like I am an angel. We stop by a nearby door and he face at me
"Stay here, I'm going to talk with my family" He ordered
"okay" I nod my head and do as he orders
I look around the hallway and then I saw this little guy in a hoodie. He is lonely and sitting on a staircase and doesn't move a muscle. I'm a bit worried to the kid so I walk towards him.
