REO Speedwagon's Greatest Hits, aka, Sleepy Time Music

I love listening to these songs. The colors I see are so soft and gentle. Any time we stay in a hotel, my dad turns it on to fall asleep to because it knocks him out like a light. He loves the songs, but by the fourth song, Keep On Loving You, he's out.

My favorite is Keep On Loving You. It's got a black background, and the most beautiful teal-aqua-turquoise kind of color dancing around like when you wave tulle fabric in the air, little waves like when you're learning about sound in science class.

My least favorite is the last one: Riding the Storm Out. Not only does the feedback jar you out of the peace you were just feeling, it's a red and gold song, like car headlights reflecting onto brick buildings.

Fun fact: for years, I thought it was legitimately called Sleepy Time Music. I didn't realize that that was only the name my dad gave it. I also for the longest time thought that this was all that REO Speedwagon had done. Oops :) It's the fun things your ten year old self believes.

I just realized that how the song looks is as important as it sounds. There's one song I know, Impossible by Building 429, that's red and yellow. I like it, but only far and few between. And now that I think about it, it makes sense, because red and yellow give me headaches, which might be one reason why I don't like brass instruments: they're all gold or similar colors.

On the other hand, I love blues, greens, and purples. They're so gentle to my eyes and brain alike. It's probably why I fell in love with peacocks so quickly. And, thinking about it, most of my favorite songs are on the cool color scale, especially greens and blues.

Music is so much a part of my life (I've jokingly called it my lifeblood), so I suppose it's good that I keep having these revelations, but all the same, I wish I could just get it all in one single time. None of this here's a little, oh, there's a little more, just wait another year and you'll get this bit here.

In My Dreams is playing right now. It's a bright song: cream/yellow clouds behind a light purple mist. The cream/yellow is the same color as French vanilla ice cream.

...I just realized that I don't know any modern songs. Not really. I grew up hearings 80's music through my parents, and Christian rock through Family Life Radio. I don't even know who's popular these days besides K-pop groups, and of those, I so far have only explored BTS. (I plan on eventually looking into the other bands, but it's hard because I've had to screen every single song for swearing and that's slowed me down.) I know Taylor Swift is still doing well, but what about Justin Bieber? Those were the two big names when I was in elementary school. (For those of you who read "Daydreams", I began to be homeschooled in the middle of fifth grade, and for those who didn't read it, it's a long story that I may someday tell, but idk.) I relate with my dad. I can't tell Taylor Swift apart from Katy Perry to save my life. He's given up and just calls them Taylor Perry. Any song that might be one of theirs is now a Taylor Perry song.

If you guys know any good modern songs, I'd be open to suggestions. Just please keep in mind that I don't listen to songs with swearing in them, even if it's only one word, and I really don't listen to any explicit songs. I'll at least try just about any other song.
