[Jimin's POV]

She looked happy, delighted. Her eyes shone as she gazed into mine.

I will admit, I was fooled, but only for a moment.

We both knew we weren't doing this for love. It was to fulfil our duty.

I could laugh. Everything was duty, duty, and duty. It didn't matter what we thought.

It didn't matter I didn't want this. It didn't matter we didn't love each other.

Duty over feeling.

That's just how it was. The life of a royal in just three words.

It made it sound so simple. So easy.

Just like how 'I love you' sounds so simple yet, it was nothing of the sort.

Nothing was that simple. Not when you're a royal.

And so, the wedding was not as simple as the two words 'I do.'

There came an after-party.

And in an after-party, you have to mingle. Talk. Laugh.

We had to pretend everything was okay, and that we were madly in love with each other.

It's harder than it sounds. I didn't know how Sera was so good at it. She would laugh at my jokes at the right times. She'd affectionately hold my arm or give me a tap on the chest when recalling our 'memories' together.

At this rate, I'd think she developed feelings for me.

"I really couldn't believe how good of a shot he was. Growing up, he was always terrible at archery," Sera teased. Archery? I did archery when we were young?

"Oh, you two have such grand adventures. I wish I found a man who would accompany me to the mountains," the women said as they all gorged on Sera's words.

Ugh, my cheeks hurt.

Then our Lord and saviour came.

The bartender had arrived.

Good God, what was he doing earlier?

"Well, how about you ladies go have a drink while I have a word with my wife, hm?" I said, giving them a smile as I took Sera's arm and led her away from the crowd.

Right when we were out of sight, Sera let out a deep sigh and collapsed onto a chair.

I couldn't blame her. Her shoes alone looked like death traps.

"Wow, you really know a lot of people," Sera commented as she massaged her ankles. I just hummed in response, watching her knead the muscle.

"And there's the happy couple!" a voice suddenly said from behind. I could feel someone's hand clasp onto my shoulder as he patted my chest.

Sera tensed.

"Luke. My dear brother," I greeted, brushing his hand off.

Like always, it was gloved. A pair of thick, soft leather enclosed his fingers as he turned to Sera. She immediately put that polite smile back on, but it looked more strained than her usual ones.

Well, Luke's presence was always exhausting.

"Prince Luke," Sera said pleasantly, giving him a little head bow.

"Oh please, I'm your brother-in-law now. Just call me bro," he said, slinging his arm over Sera's shoulder.

My stomach clenched.

"I don't feel that is appropriate," Sera said. Her words sounded steeled as she uncomfortably sagged under Luke's arm. Taking his arm, I ripped it away and pulled Sera to my side.

"Please make yourself comfortable and enjoy the evening," I said, then pulled Sera away.

"Oh, but Jimin! Don't think getting yourself married just earns you the crown!" Luke shouted after us. I stopped. "A king isn't made, it's born."

"Don't listen to him," Sera mumbled and dragged me away. But I couldn't help thinking about Luke's words.

A king isn't made, it's born.

"Jimin," Sera called. I snapped out of it when I heard her voice. She gazed into my eyes and I could see her concern. "Don't listen to anything that idio-" she stopped, catching herself before she could finish. I was always amazed by how pure her words always were. They were always polite, pleasant and respectful.

Come to think of it, I think the worst thing she's ever said was 'stupid.'

"Don't listen to anything Luke says. He's just trying to get to you. Don't let him," she continued.

"I won't."

She didn't say anything for a moment but then smiled.

"Come on. Let's go enjoy the party. It's for us after all."
