happily ever after

[Sera's POV]

"He's on his way. Don't let anything slip, but make it clear that we know exactly what the royals know. I will make sure Sera is within your clutches once you've captured the prince."

"Thank you, Namjoon. I can always depend on you, son."

That was it. Fifteen seconds of talking just changed everything. 

I honestly had no words. What was I supposed to say? All we could do was watch as the guards showed Namjoon out. 

Namjoon didn't even protest. 

Not a single word left his mouth as he calmly left the room with the guards, that courteous smile still on his face. 

A week later, we stood in court. My father was charged with treason and first-degree murder and Namjoon was charged with treason. Both were banished from Islac and would serve the rest of their lives in a distant prison. 

Jae was also charged with treason but was only sentenced to 40 years in prison. 

The hearing ended and Jimin and I arrived home late at night. Exhausted, both of us got ready in silence and crawled into bed. However, Jimin did not turn off the lights as he normally did. 

"What?" I asked as he settled in beside me. He didn't answer. He just wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me in close. I laughed a little and turned to face him. "Seriously, what?" 

He stopped and looked at me. "Why? I can't show my wife a little love?" 

"Well, no, but you're being weird," I answered, brushing my fingers through his hair. 

It was perfect. Just him and I with the rest of the world quiet. We hadn't had such a relaxed night in ages. 

Jimin's voice broke through my thoughts. "You know, when I was... dead... I saw something."

Intrigued, I pressed on, "Yeah? What did you see?"

"I saw a huge expanse of bright white light. And through that light, I heard your voice," he answered.

"My voice? What was I saying?" 

"You were telling me how although you didn't say it enough, you love me." At this, my cheeks became heated as that emotional conversation came back to me. 

"You... heard that?" I said, trying to diverge the conversation a little. 

"I did," he stated, "And in that moment, do you know what I wanted to tell you?"

"What?" 

"I love you too." At this, a smile spread across my face. "And after that whole experience, I told myself that when I see you again, I would tell you that. Every day for the rest of eternity. So, Park Sera, I love you. I love you so fucking much, you could never even imagine."

"And I love you too, Park Jimin. I love you more than love itself." 

"Then let's do it again."

"Do what again?" I asked as his hand reached behind him and pulled out a purple velvet box. He then opened it to reveal a beautiful sapphire ring.

"Will you marry me? For real this time?"

With a huge smile of delight, I nodded. "Yes, yes I will."

And then he kissed me, our lips moving in perfect unison. 

So in the end, it was perfect. Everything was perfect. 

It was like a fairytale because, in the end, the king and queen lived happily ever after.
