[Jimin's POV]
"No- I'm fine," she said quickly.
A silence fell over us.
I surveyed her form standing in front of the bedside table. Her hands were gripping the edge of the drawer. Her back rested on the wood.
I caught her eye.
She looked away.
"Um... you said you had something to say?" she finally said.
I cleared my throat. "Yes about that..." but I trailed off when I saw the bandages.
Clad in casual clothes, the sleeveless tee exposed her wrapped arms.
"Wait here," I instructed. She didn't say anything as I crossed the room and started fumbling in the drawers.
She stayed quiet.
Finally, I found the red bag shoved in the corner of the drawer.
"Sit," I directed. Seeing the first-aid kit in my hand, she sighed.
"I'm okay, Jimin. You don't have to-" but I didn't listen.
Taking her right arm, I unravelled the cloth, pulling her back when she tried to withdraw.
"Jimin seriously- ah!" She jolted a little when I placed the alcohol on the cut.
"Sorry," I whispered, concentrating on the cuts.
Luckily, the cuts didn't look deep. They appeared worse than they were because they were long, running up the length of her arm.
We sat in silence as I cleaned and bandaged her arm, then the other.
Once I was done, I placed her arm back onto her lap.
She averted her gaze.
I bit my lip, letting my eyes linger before I turned away to place the supplies back.
She stopped me.
"Let me have a look," she whispered.
"Hm?"
She nodded to my arm.
Oh.
I allowed her to pull my arm forward, letting her unravel the dressing.
Dried blood caked the perimeter of the wound.
Her eyes saddened when she saw the damage.
They also held a hint of fear.
But this was only for a second. The next moment, they hardened.
What was going on with her?
"So... you wanted to talk to me about something?" she voiced, reaching over for the rubbing alcohol.
"Yes," I started.
I was determined to tell her.
To make this work.
"I talked with Hoseok a while ago. He made me think about something."
"Mmh," she mumbled, wetting a cotton pad with the medication.
"I... I know you didn't want this marriage."
She said nothing.
"And I know that your heart doesn't lie with me, but with... someone else." At this, she paused, but only for a moment. "But I'm here to ask you, despite all that," I swallowed my fear of rejection.
