[Jimin's POV]
"Lucas what is going on? Is Namjoon back yet?" I immediately asked as I burst into the room, Sera's hand tightly clutched in mine.
"We have a problem," Yoongi said, totally ignoring my questions. His face told me that something was terribly wrong because he looked pissed.
"What? Out with it already," I urged, taking a seat in front of the screen. Lucas nervously glanced at Yoongi who was scowling at something on the table.
All of a sudden, the doors opened with a bang, allowing three figures to enter the room. It was Namjoon, followed by Jungkook and Taehyung.
"Jungkook? What are you doing here?" Sera immediately rose from her chair, her voice laced with concern.
"Nevermind that. Have you seen the news?" Namjoon asked me.
"No. Yoongi was just about to tell me." Again, all three men glanced worriedly to Yoongi who still looked like he was seething. "Okay, enough of this already." Walking around the table, I snatched the paper Yoongi was trying to burn a hole through with his eyes.
I gasped.
The heading read; Breaking News: Her Royal Highness, Queen Sera Is Cheating On The King? It then started with the words, 'Earlier today, queen Sera held her own press conference, assuring the nation of the regency's transparency and comforting us with strong words. However, the country seems to always be taking one step forward and three steps back. Queen Sera announced herself to be trustworthy and truthful, and we believed her alright. Believed her enough to know that she would tell us if she had an affair with her personal bodyguard, right?'
Below, there was a collage of photos.
Photos of a topless Yoongi embracing a dishevelled looking Sera. There was even a photo of her kissing his forehead.
"What the fuck," I mumbled under my breath.
Instantly, the article was snatched out of my hand. Sera had grabbed the paper and was ripping it apart.
"What the hell was that?!" I shouted, looking at the two accused in confusion but anger.
Sera and Yoongi? Two of the people closest to my heart?
"It's not what it looks like-"
"It better not be, so explain what the fuck it's supposed to look like," I growled, cutting off Sera's words.
At this, Sera's eyes quickly lit up in anger.
"Jimin! You know Yoongi and I wouldn't do anything like that! You're missing the point! Do you not see what your best friend is going through?" Picking up a shred of the tattered paper, she shoved it in my hand to see.
A fragment of Yoongi's torso sat revealed to me.
And that's when I saw it. The red marks swirling around his milky skin.
The burn marks he had received to protect her. To protect Sera.
To protect her when I couldn't.
"I-I," I dropped the paper, speechless. How could I have been so dense? God, it was already set in stone, so obviously engraved that Sera and Yoongi were not anything like that.
They were both undyingly loyal to me.
This is not how I should be repaying them.
"I'm- I'm sorry. I overreacted-" but Sera didn't let me finish.
"Oh no, don't tell me..." she drifted off, not finishing her sentence.
"It's not looking too good," Lucas said. Taking the remote, Lucas pressed the red button to turn on the news.
Fire.
Fire was waving violently in the wind, burning posterboards and buildings to the ground.
Riot.
The country was once again rioting because they thought the regency once again lied to them when in reality, we had not done that once. Not once since Sera and I were sworn in did we lie to our country.
That's when I realized, there was a traitor.
Perhaps multiple even.
People were working against me, within my tight circle.
These photos proved that whoever took them, were close to us. Close enough to get to the private chambers of the royal family.
Sera's father had an accomplice.
Immediately, on reflex, I grabbed Sera's hand in mine.
"Yoongi, I need you to set up a meeting with Lair-"
"I can't do that. It's too dangerous-"
"I don't care!" I shouted. My tolerance was at an end. I was going to end this, once and for all. Whether it be I send spies or kill these conspirators myself, I was done.
Even though my country had turned on me, I would stay loyal to them.
"Yoongi, I am commanding you to-"
"I'll do it," a voice interrupted. "I'll go visit Sera's father," Taehyung announced.
"What-"
"Absolutely not!" Sera quickly objected. Even though my heart twinged with slight jealousy, I couldn't help but think the same thing. Although Taehyung and I weren't on great terms, I would not allow him to try and clean up my mess.
Taehyung offered Sera a gentle smile, saying, "It's okay, Sera. Namjoon and I have already worked all the details out. This a fairly low-risk assignment. I'll be okay."
"B-but-" Taehyung quickly shushes her with a hand.
"Let me do this Sera. I need to do this," he whispered. After that, Taehyung looks at me, pleading with me with his eyes to let him do this.
With a heavy sigh, I complied.
"Namjoon, brief me on how this is going to work."
Despite my firm decision to let Lucas show Sera back to our room, she wouldn't budge. I've never seen Sera as persistent as this before. She fought like her life was on the line, absolutely refusing to leave the room.
So here we were, sitting side by side with our hands in each other's, watching as my cousin risked his life for us.
I would owe him big time.
Sera and I would see this through, together.
"Can you hear me?" Taehyung's voice suddenly came from the mic attached to his coat.
"Yes, loud and clear. We've started recording. You're a go," Namjoon said.
And with that, we heard the gates open, and Taehyung stepped into enemy territory.
