You are serving a customer, not a life sentence. Learn how to enjoy your work." Laurie McIntosh.

You will think being a customer service officer is something most people can do. It's relating with people, trying to understand them and get their needs sorted out right? Wrong!

Not only are some people bad at Customer Service, they are also awful at social relations. A conversation with them and you want to stop using the services they provide.

Thankfully, this person isn't in Customer Service Unit and we were able to settle the issue before it got to Management. However, we got a earful and it wasn't a great way to end the day but ending the crisis was relieving.

There are customers that make CS a joy even if they have complaints, they don't give you a hard time and they thank you for your help giving you a warm glow.

And there are some, those that will call at 9 pm and demand that you get things sorted out, right at that moment even though they know its after working hours and there is little you can do. There are some who just call to complain, needing an outlet to pour out their day's grievances. Those I can bear with. And there are some that are just genuinely difficult.

Even when you are helping out and doing everything you can, they are not only insulting you, they are also threatening the heck out of you and the company that you start to wonder what went wrong.

"Sir, we are already working on it. You will be able to get it in the next 30 minutes."

"What nonsense!" "Why do I have to wait 30 minutes?" "What sort of system do you even have?" "If you can't deliver, let me take my money and go somewhere else and I will make sure that nobody uses you." "I will go on Social Media"

I will go on social media. Those six dreaded words for the CSU. Not only are you doing damage time ,you will also get queried even if it was the customer's fault.

Thankfully, for now, I have only encountered two and I sincerely hope that they are the last I get .
