We were surrounded by daisies, tulips, and chrysanthemums, but the rose bushes were your favorite in this vast garden. I saw you admire them once and you told me that the beauty of its flowers was enough to lure its prey. And the thorns were enough for them to steer away. And I looked at you with the same admiration. And I realized your thorns were what kept me at bay.
