RED’S POV

“And for the final round! Whoever answers the question first will be declared as the winner!” Anang ng MC.

Napa at ease naman ako at bumuntong hininga. I need to meditate, I have to think straight. Nagkatinginan kami ng babaeng nasa kabilang table na syang katunggali ko. She smiled, I smiled back before the Professor stood up and signed both of us if we’re ready. We both nodded.

“Okay, Miss Reign Erza Druen Fernavrino of F. Academy and Miss Trinity Del Torza of East Lenford Institute, Here’s the last question.” Saglit syang tumahimik at tinignan ang audience bago kaming contestants.

He continued, “ What is it that makes disease caused by viruses and bacteria hard to treat?” he asked formally.

As soon as he stopped, I immediately push the button that made the buzzer rang. I smiled.

“Yes Miss Fernavrino?” The Prof. asked.

“Influenza viruses and others continually change over time, usually by mutation. This change enables the virus to evade the immune system of its host so that people are susceptible to influenza virus infection throughout their lives. Bacteria mutate in the same way and can also become resistant if overtreated with antibiotics.” I answered confidently.

1..2..3..4..5..*Silence..

“Miss Reign Erza Druen Fernavrino of F. Academy won the National Science quiz bee! Everyone, let’s give her a round of applause!!” Finally the MC announced.

My smile widen, The audience claps so loud. Pumaling ako sa direksyon ng adviser ko at kay Yn na nagcutting ng klase nya para lang manood. Sa kabilang banda ay si Mommy at si Sky at nakita kong kasama ang buong section namin na inexcuse para merong magcheer sa akin.

Tumayo ako sa pwesto at nakipagshakehands kay Trinity na syang katunggali ko.

“Congrats.” Aniya habang nagshe-shake hands kami.

I smiled back, “Thank you. Congrats din.”

After the shakehands, lumapit ako sa prof. at nakipagkamayan sa kanya gaya na din ng iba pang mga committees pati ang MC. Lumapit sa akin si Miss Grace. She pat my shoulder as well as my classmates. Yn came ang gave me a super hug. While Mom and Sky stayed in their spots but still giving me a cheerful look. I’m happy I know, pero may kulang. Wala na naman si Blue.

We’re okay, that’s what I know. Wala naman kaming kung anong napag awayan o tampuhan pero Blue is nowhere to be found these days. Papasok ng school at sasamahan kami pero parang wala sya sa sarili. One thing I’m sure about is he’s hiding something. Hinahayaan ko dahil kung gusto nyang sabihin ay magkukusa sya.

Yn pat my shoulder, “Wala na naman si Asul?” Maarte nyang tanong.

I smiled a little saka tumango.

I heard her sighed, “Hay nako Red, Bustedin mo na ‘yan at baka nambababae na ‘yan.” Asik pa nito.

I looked at her with my intertwining eyebrows, “Nambababae?” I asked cluelessly.

She rolled her eyes, “Nako, subukan lang talaga nun Red. Mas malilintikan ‘yon sa akin.” Ani nya.

I chuckled. I shrugged my shoulder. He won’t do that. Mahal nya ako kagaya ng sabi nya at ramdam ko yon.
