3 days later

today's the day. today was the day you planned on defeating the saviors. Alexandria had a deal with the garbage people. you had a feeling something was going to go wrong. does anything go right anymore? as you got dressed you felt a knot grow in your stomach.

"are you ready for this, y/n?" Carl asked

"yeah" you sighed

"you don't have to fight, you're about to kill a lot of people. are you sure you want to do this?"

"do I want to? no. am I going to do this to protect you and everyone else I care about? yes. I know what I'm about to do Carl. I do have to fight. this is what our life is now. this is how we get by" you said, rolling up your sleeves "it's who we are" you huffed "it's who we have to be" Carl didn't respond, he just gave you a tight, loving hug before leaving the room, leaving you alone.

you gathered your thoughts, and walked down the stairs to be met with Judith and Michonne

"you ready for this?" you asked

"are you?" Michonne responded

"no. no, not really" you said "where will Judith be?" you asked

"I'm about to take her over to Hilltop with Enid. she'll be safe there"

"yeah, that makes sense"

"are you nervous?" she asked

"a little" you said sarcastically

"you wanna ride with me?"

"yeah, just let me tell Carl so he doesn't worry his head off" you giggled

"alright, meet you outside in five?" she asked

"sure thing" you said, walking to the living room to be met with Carl, sharpening his knife "I'm gonna ride with Michonne to the Hilltop. love you" you said, pecking his forehead

"always. be safe" he replied

"always" you smiled, before walking out the door and to the front gate where Michonne was waiting for you in a car.

you got in the passenger seat and Michonne began to drive. as you looked out the window, thoughts raced through your mind.

what if we lose the fight? we won't, right? we're winners. negan can't beat us.

"pretty soon, ill be teaching you how to drive" Michonne laughed, bringing you back from your intricate thought process.

"I need to learn here soon. I don't want to walk everywhere forever" you giggled

"maybe after we win this"

"what if we don't?" you asked "what if we don't win this? something is gonna go wrong, negan will kill someone, and we'll lose. again" you said

"hey" she interrupted "we will not lose. we will win. negan can't have us. you know that"

"I know, but it could happen. what if he kills someone? what if he kills Carl?" you asked

"if he kills Carl, you, me, and Rick will be pissed. the three of us together, no savior can handle that. if he lays a finger on Carl, he'll be dead. you'll be the one to do it"

"why me?" you asked

"you're his significant other" she giggled

"I wonder- nevermind"

"what?" she asked

"I wonder if me and Carl will get married" you giggled "if he'll propose. nevermind- that's stupid. we're too young" you smiled, shaking your head
