"so, we went to this place called the kingdom" Carl said as you walked around Hilltop

"another group?" you asked

"yeah, their leader is kinda a nut job. he has a tiger"

"like, a real one?" you giggled

"yeah, it's huge" he said

"that's crazy"

"just wait, y/n. when you see it, you'll freak. it's terrifying" you giggled at him

"are you... afraid??" you asked sarcastically

"pffft, noo" he responded

"oh yeah, cause you're not afraid of anything, right?" he nodded "except for the tigerrrr" you teased

"I miss sleeping with you at night" he said, looking into your eyes

"me too, but it's easier knowing you're safe" you said

"how are things here?" he asked

"gregory is a dick, as always" you said, causing him to laugh "but the kids are catching on pretty fast with the whole karate thing. some of them say they're ready to fight, but most of them are too little. we can't let ten year olds half our size fight with us. they'll die, I wouldn't forgive myself" you said

"y/n, it wouldn't be your fault. you know that" he said, grabbing your hand

"still. now, Gregory wants me to teach everyone how to use guns. he acts like Maggie, Sasha, and Enid aren't even here. it's really getting on my nerves. and he keeps calling me Jamie. he's literally the most annoying person I've ever met"

"i understand" he said "when are you coming home?"

"as soon as Maggie thinks I can"

"what does Maggie have to do with you being here?" he asked

"she's been helping me with my gun training and stuff"

"ohhh, why didn't you just ask me?"

"I knew we wouldn't be able to focus together" you laughed

"you got me there" he sighed sarcastically

"god, I miss you"

"I miss me too" he said jokingly, putting his hand on his heart

"shut upppp" you laughed, punching his arm

"I'm gonna see if dad will let me sleep here tonight" he said

"I hope so"

"I'll be right back" he said, letting your hand slowly slip from his. he walked away, leaving your sight.

you turned around and walked towards the infirmary. once you arrived, you walked inside. you'd been helping out there for a few days. you figured the more skilled you were, the better.

"hey, lilly" you smiled

"y/n, hey!" she said "here to help?"

"you bet" you smiled

"we don't have any patients right now, thank-" she was interrupted by the door swinging open

"we need help! he fell and a stick went through his torso!" someone yelled, carrying a man with a blood soaked shirt and a stick stuck in his side

"you got this, y/n" lilly said, prepping the bed for him to lay on, then turning to grab peroxide, gauze, bandages, and tweezers

"okay, lay him here! hurry!" you said, the man laying him down
