I'm trying to write angstier stuff, but it feels like this book has a different aura to it. I'm going to change the cover. Maybe that's the problem.
Roman sat down at his desk, his pen hovering over the paper. He had just been hit with inspiration but when he had sat down, everything had vanished. Ideas had evaporated just like that.
He needed to get an idea by the end of the week.
He groaned and stood up, going to open the door so he could make some ramen. H jiggled the doorknob. He frowned and tried to open the door again. It was stuck.
He pulled harder, but the door would not open. He frowned and tried to open it in various ways but it would not open. He growled and rammed himself into the door. The door gave a loud thud but it would not open.
"Geez Princey, why are you ramming yourself into your door?" The familiar snarky side's voice filtered through.
"I am stuck in my room and I can't get out!" He groaned, ramming himself into the door again.
The door handle jiggled.
"Is the door locked?"
"No!" Roman wailed, checking the door handle for the fifth time. Virgil cursed before calling out for Patton.
Patton came to the door and Roman could hear him ask Virgil what was worrying him. Virgil gave a muffled explanation.
"Um, Kiddo? Do you have any possible reasons or explanations for being trapped in your room?"
"Creative block!" He yelled, trying to kick down the door.
"Oh!" Patton said, "Virgil, this hasn't really happened when you've been around but occasionally creative blocks can make Roman stuck or hard for him to work. Roman doesn't like being trapped."
"Damn right I don't" Roman yelled, another thunderous crash against the door.
"Try and overcome it kiddo!" Patton said guiltily, obvious upset he couldn't help.
Roman sighed and slid down the door. He should've known waiting around would've quenched his creativity. His eyes surveyed the room. It was not as clean and interesting as the others might think of it.
Papers littered the floor, a lot of it were crumpled next to the overflowing ideas of a bin. Disney posters hung up in odd positions like a child's would and books littered his bed. A lot of the were open, dog-eared or just in precarious positions. He had a habit of starting books when in the middle of another.
These books weren't all Disney, of course. They were cookbooks, gardening books, old fairytales and a variety of romance novels.
Roman sighed and snapped his fingers, summoning his phone and headphone. He plugged in the headphones and turned on his playlist. He leaned his head against the door and closed his eyes.
So many failed ideas that could've been re-worked today. So many hours gone to waste.
He wondered if things had always been this hard.
He chose to not answer his own question, slipping into sleep.
