TW: Blood, hanahaki, mentions of the star tears disease, one-sided pining
Love interest left ambiguous, main character death, mentioned of death.
Roman stared dreamily at the boy across the room, a faint and soft smile contrasting from the bold and dramatic smile he usually wore.
And a hint of sadness mixed in the soft smile.
He knew that the boy didn't like him.
Roman felt a strange tickly feeling in his throat and lungs. It was almost a burning sensation, and he coughed.
He got up and grabbed a tissue, and gave another shuddering cough.
Something came from his mouth and he could taste blood.
A ridiculous amount of petals were in the tissue and they were all splattered with blood.
His blood.
He looked up and made eye contact with the boy.
He felt his face flush up and he got up quickly, grabbing his bag and throwing the tissue full of blood and petals in the bin.
He felt the tingle in his chest start burning into a pain.
Roman gasped and went for a cup of water, and there was a small relief before his throat went immediately scratchy and dry again.
He knew about this.
His mother had almost died from it.
He already knew what Hanahaki was.
He also knew what Star Tears was.
Honestly, he would've preferred blindness to, you know, death.
He at least wouldn't burden anyone.
He's sure if he died they'd get over it in a month.
And as weeks passed, those thoughts solidified as he started throwing up whole dahlias flowers.
Nobody noticed.
That was fine.
He would die alone.
They found his body hunched over the toilet bowl, surrounded by dahlias and blood, eyes closed.
Okay so I found out about this other unrequited love fictional disease called 'star tears disease' where you basically cry glittery tears until you go blind.
