Did you know that bark is the tree's defence?

When you carve stuff into its wood, it's more vulnerable to bacteria and diseases.

TW: I guess pains?

Roman decorated his hair with small flowers, smiling faintly. The nature nymph hummed sweetly, and he traced a tree trunk. He faltered, feeling carvings in the wood.  Two humans sat beneath its branches.

They seemed to be show affection to each other.

He smiled fondly at them, his leafy cape fluttering slightly in the winds. The air was damp and Roman smiled. Rain.

The couple ran for a shadier cover, probably in their houses.

Roman blinked the rain from his eyes, smiling, "Hey Virgil! Make sure you don't flood the area or tear down my plants!"

Virgil smiled sadly, "I only control the clouds, Roman"

Roman gave a pained smile and protected the plants as much as he could. He forgot about his own Heart Redbud tree. He bit his lip as he cast a quick look at his tree.

The storm passed quickly, and he rushed to his tree. Some root damage. That would explain his chestal pains. Of course, he didn't have a heart, but the sap that ran through his veins gave from his roots, which were placed somewhat in his chest.

He touched the budding flowers and was thankful the wind gods were merciful this time around.

I'll write as soon as I can, but don't be surprised if I don't post another chapter soon.
