A few days have passed, all being pretty normal. Today went seemingly normal for him too. He cleaned the windows, swept the floors, washed the dishes, and a couple of other chores and even got to enjoy some chess with Shuichi before Kaede came back from work.

He was currently cleaning the counters in the kitchen while Shuichi sipped on his coffee in the living room while reading a book when she entered the room. She smiled widely before coming up to Shuichi. He glanced through the door to see.

"Shuichi honey! You don't mind if I buy myself that beautiful diamond necklace I saw at the store yesterday?" she asked fiddling with her thumbs. Shuichi sighed.

"I assume you're gonna ask me to buy it." he said. This piqued Kokichi's attention enough to place down the cleaning rag and focus on the couple before him, eavesdropping of course. He wasn't usually the person to do this sort of thing on a regular basis. Only when he felt that something was off about a person, and he got this exact vibe from the blonde pianist and detective.

"Well, you love me don't you?" Kaede said puffing out her cheek. Shuichi seemed to look down kind of guilty as if he had done something wrong.  Kokichi's face scrunched up in disgust.

"Good partners are supposed to take care of their girlfriends properly. You just burrow in your cases and ignore me. What kind of person does that to the ones they love?" she continued to insult and spout at him. Shuichi averted his gaze from her.

"O-Okay... you can have the necklace" He said, handing her the money. Ouma stared with curiosity at the situation. Shuichi obviously still had doubts from his expression. Kaede grinned happily. And Kaede's blatant guilt-tripping...

"Yay! Thank you, Shuichi! You really are the man of my dreams! Gotta go now. Bye!" Kaede said quickly kissing him on the cheek. She then swiftly ran out of the house not saying another word. Shuichi stared at the front door as it closed before sighing deeply. Kokichi opened the door further, it making a creek and making Shuichi look at him.

"Mr. Saihara, you look troubled." Ouma said as he stared at Shuichi with slight worry. Even if Shuichi was just his client, he knew he couldn't ignore this sort of behavior and just pretend it didn't happen. He dropped his jokey persona because this wasn't the time for this. The treatment Saihara received from his girlfriend wasn't that of a loving healthy couple.

"O-Oh! S-So you've noticed..." Shuichi said quietly. There was obviously something bothering him, his voice and thoughtful expression gave it away.

"Well, you aren't that good at hiding your emotions, you clearly don't have a good poker face. Is something the matter?" Ouma asked.

"It's n-nothing...I mean it's not NOTHING...heh..." Saihara said hesitantly, fidgeting with his fingers. Ouma's curiosity and sense of responsibility tugged on him making him push onto discovering what made Saihara feel so uncomfortable.

"Suppressing your feelings isn't the greatest option, Mr. Saihara" he said. He noticed a particular tint of red dust Saihara's cheeks.

"You don't have to call me that you know" he said soon after blushing lightly.

"How should I address you then?" Ouma said slightly tilting his head to the side "Shuichi? Saihara-kun? Saihara-chan?" he said. Shuichi blushed at the possibility of '-chan' being used in his name. It was just so...cutesy and feminine I guess. And Saihara didn't know if he liked it.

Then again someone else had once called him something similar to that.

"Shuichi-chan! How are you today?"

"Hi Kiib-

"Shuichi what have I told you about hanging out with that brat?!"

He felt his face turn into a frown remembering his other best friend from childhood. But it was wrong to think of him right? He wasn't a good influence. Kaede was good. She was a good friend. He shook his head looking back at Kokichi.

"Uhh you okay? You sorta spaced out" the maid chuckled. Shuichi mumbled a small ' I'm okay ' he spoke softly. Ouma nodded.

"Anyways do you like it? I usually save the 'chan' for friends like Kirumi-chan or Amami-chan but I don't mind using it for you." he said which made Shuichi blush even harder. After a moment of awkward silence, Ouma grew uncomfortable.

"...Is that a problem for you? Amami-chan did not have a problem with it. I apologize for assuming the same for everyone." he said bowing apologetically. Shuichi immediately snapped out of his trance.

"N-No! It's fine! You can call me Saihara-chan if that's what you want." he said awkwardly. Ouma grinned politely.

"Then I shall call you that. Now tell me, why is it that you look upset?" he said as he walked up closer and sat on the nearby couch.

"I-It's just...Kaede's been spending a lot of money lately...and she seems to focus more on parties than her job. And I'm having doubts that lending her cash might not be the best thing but..." Saihara said with a frown. Ouma put a finger to his mouth in thought.

"Well, if you feel that way maybe you should talk to her about it?" he said after a moment but Saihara simply shook his head.

"I actually did... she didn't take it so well and started crying. I didn't mean to make her upset." Shuichi said to which Ouma hummed softly.

"I don't think it's healthy in a couple when-" Shuichi shook his head.

"No, no it's fine. We're fine. I'm just overreacting" Shuichi chuckled looking away. Ouma frowned.

"I just..."

"We're doing fine." Shuichi said. His tone suggested the conversation was over and continuing the conversation would lead no where. Kokichi sighed, tugging at the fabric of his maid uniform.

"Sorry..." he said looking at the ground. Shuichi looked over at him.

"It's fine you're not the only one to say this. But I love her and I believe it'll turn out ok...it just...has to" silence took over only for Saihara stand up. "I'm going to go to my study..." he muttered standing up and going to his study.

As he watched Saihara head in the direction of his study, he felt worry seep into his thoughts. To be frank he had watched Kaede's and Shuichi interactions up to this point and have noticed that their interactions revolved around three things. Work, Party and most importantly...

Money.

He had seen how much cash Shuichi spent on Kaede. The number of dresses, jewels, earrings, even specific types of rich wine with her name written in golden cursive, not to even mention the game and TV room which were specifically designed and signed to be only hers. Yet Shuichi loved her and considered her to be a little sweet pea with a heart of gold while Ouma thought of her more that she was a spoiled brat who didn't have a heart of gold but wanted a heart made out of gold.

He shook his head. He can't get involved into Shuichi's life like this, he's just a stranger in this. A person who was supposed to clean the house and then go home, not analyze other relationships. He sighed.

There's still a few cobwebs in the kitchen.
